Re: How can I become an IPS officer after completing 12th?
After 12th, one is not eligible for IPS as the minimum academic qualification for IAS is Graduation in any stream.
IPS - Indian Police Service and to become an IPS officer one has to crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC once every year. The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate with good Physical Fitness. Apart from this the candidate should have possessed minimum prescribed Physical requirement such as:- HEIGHT - General/OBC Male-165cm and Female-150cm while SC/ST Male-160cm and Female-145cm. CHEST - Male- 84cm while Female-79cm expandable to 5cm in both the cases. So as you are interested for IPS, you should first complete Graduation Degree but after 12th, you can start your preparation accordingly along with your regular under Graduate studies. The selection is through three phases:- -CSAT - Civil ervice Aptitude Test - Preliminary Exam -Civil Service Main Exam -Personal Interview For more information you may log on to http://www.upsc.gov.in |

The forms are made available by the Union Public Service Commission sometime between January to March. In May, preliminary exam is conducted while the Main examination is conducted sometime in August. Eligibility Criteria 1. Only Indian citizens are considered for Indian Police Service. 2. Bachelor degree should have been completed. 3. No marks criteria in graduation. 4. Age limit regardless of gender is 21 to 30 years. 5. Age relaxation is 3 years for OBC. 6. Age limit is relaxed by 5 years on upper side for SC/ST. Physical Criteria For Female 1. Chest should be 79cm with 5cm expansion. 2. Min acceptable height is 150 cm. 3. The height requirement for Schedule Tribe girls is 145 cm. 4. 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye 5. 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye 6.
