Can I hold a masters degree in commerce and English simultaneously after completion of my B.Com? Will I be eligible for NET exam then?

I'm currently doing my B.Com. Post my completion of B.com, I will be doing M.com. I'm interested in becoming a lecturer in Commerce as well as English. On the other hand, keeping Commerce as my specialized subject, can I do another masters degree in English? (This means I would hold a bachelors degree in Commerce and a Masters Degree in Commerce and English) Is that possible? If Yes, will I be eligible to take up NET in both Commerce and English disciplines?

Thanks.

Although it makes little sense but you can hold 2 post graduation degrees. However it will not help you apply for lectureship for 2 subjects through National Eligibility Test.

For National Eligibility Test you can only choose one subject. So either it will be Commerce or English, it can't be both. Therefore I will suggest you to drop the idea of double post graduation.

Stick with one post graduation course and apply for the National Eligibility Test after completing it. If you find English more attrative then complete post graduation in English. However since you are about to complete B.Com, Master of Commerce will be better choice.

Now its up to you whether you want to apply for NET exam for Commerce or English. But it has to be one subject, it can't be both.

Eligibility

1. Nationality: Indian citizen.

2. Qualification: Master degree from UGC recognized college.

3. Percentage: 55 percent or more.

4. Percentage (SC/ST): At least 50 percent.

5. During final year of post graduation you can apply for NET.

6. But you will be required to submit post graduation degree within 2 years.

7. Number of Appearances: No Limit

8. The age limit is 28 for JRF applicants.

9. There is no upper age limit for lectureship.
