Can I join Air Force having completed MCA in the year of 2011?


sir,am finished m.c.a in 2011 batch .can i join the airforce? plz inform

Apart from educational qualification, there are various other things that are considered by the Air Force Selection Board, before declaring any individual eligible for the job.

Now basically, Indian Air Force comprise of three branches:
Flying Branch
Technical Branch
Ground Duty Branch


In order to join the Flying Branch, candidates, apart from being a graduate in any discipline (Maths and Physics in +2 level), needs to be within the age limit of 19-23 years.

For Technical Branch, one must have studied eight subjects out of the following list:
  • Physics
  • Mathematics
  • Engineering Graphics
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Control Engineering.
  • Microprocessors.
  • Digital Electronics
  • Computer Networks.
  • Information Technology.
  • Network Theory Design.
  • Telecommunication Systems.
  • Electronic Circuit Design.
  • Radar Theory.
  • Switching Theory.
  • Instrumentation.
  • Microwave Engineering.
  • Antenna and Wave Propagation.
  • Electronic Devices.
  • Automotive Engineering or Plant Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
  • Engineering Mechanics
  • Aerodynamics.
  • Thermodynamics and Applications
  • Heat and Mass Transfer.
  • Theory of Machines.
  • Fluid Mechanics or Turbo Machines.
  • Flight Mechanics.
  • Machine Drawing / Machine Design.
  • Mechatronics.
  • Metallurgy.
  • Vibrations
  • Production Engineering.
  • Hydraulics and Pneumatics.
  • Aircraft Structures.

Apart from having studied any eight subjects from the list mentioned above, candidate must have scored a minimum of 60% in the qualifying examination and must be within the age limit of 18-28 years.

The Ground Duty Branch comprise of the following departments:
  • Administrative Department
  • Logistic Department
  • Accounts Department
  • Meteorological Department

Now, since you have done Master of Computer Application, you may join the Meteorological Department, provided you have scored a minimum of 55% marks in the MCA Program and must be within the age limit of 20-25 years.

However, for other departments too, you may apply and will be considered eligible but as per your qualification and expertise, you should join the Meteorological Department.
