Chartered Accountancy course is not limited for candidates belonging to any particular stream, however, being a commerce students definitely helps a lot as the Chartered Accountancy course deals in Accounting and its related field.
Since you have completed your bachelors degree program in Economics, you can definitely pursue Chartered Accountancy course and in order to do so, first of all, you will have to qualify Common Proficiency Test conducted by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Qualifying the test is mandatory for candidates willing to pursue the course. The Common Proficiency Test is followed by Intermediate Professional Competence Course, Articleship Training, Final Course and other prescribed training.

The Common Proficiency Test is conducted two times a year:
In the month of June
In the month of December

The registration for the Common Proficiency Test is open throughout the year and in order to register yourself, you will have to contact your nearest ICAI Regional Council/Branch.
