Is maths compulsory for economic honors? can we get through a good college without maths? I HAve a weird combination in class 11 and 12.my subjects are accounts,history,psychology,economics. I also had commerce in classes 9 and 10..can i get a good college for economic honors????????

There are three different way to pursue economic honors, i.e.

B.Com Economics(honors) - You need to have Economics with or without Maths, but it also depends on the institutes, some of them do ask for Maths as one of the subjects in +2.

B.A Economic(honors) -You just need to have Economics as one of the main stream subject in +2.

B.Sc Economics(honors)- You must have Maths and Economics in +2.
The eligibility criteria may differ in various institutes.
The most important thing is that you must have passed your +2 with very good percentage in Economics i.e. more than 60%, to pursue honors in the same.

To get admission in economic honors colleges, then you have to passed in
Mathematics at 12th exams or its equivalent examination in Mathematics
or in Business Mathematics. So without maths you will not get admission
in economics honors................

In my knowledge yes maths is compulsory for economic honours...because economic is having statistics which is a part of mathematics..But sometimes it depends on your choice of university you are applying for...You must have the 4 subjects for doing economic honours like English and mathematics/business mathematics are compulsory and the 2 elective subjects(physics,chemistry,psychology,biology,econ omics,political science,accountancy,business studies,sociology,computer science etc)..
Well I am little bit confused by checking your subjects in 11th and 12th..

If you want to join in the B.Sc Economics honors course, then maths is the must one.

Other wise for B.A Economics honors, Maths is not necessary, though there are little applications of business maths.

All the collages in kolkata are asking for mathematics if I want to get economic honors. But I don't have mathematics in my 2.
I have no intention to leave the city or the state. So in that case what can I do????

Ya you must have mathematics in your 10+2 but now as you don't have its better to look somewhere as you cannot get in your ciy.

yes, to do economics honours from Jamia Islamia maths is needed. It is required as a subject eithre in 12 or graduattion

To get admission in B.sc Economic Honors in any good College you must have Mathematics at 12th class or equivalant examination.

But if you go for B.A. Economic(honors) or B.com Economics(honors), then you can get admission with or without mathematics in your 12th class. But it depends on the Institutes.
