Indian Forest Service is one of the three All India Service. The other two are Indian Administrative Service and Indian Police Service. The exam for the Indian Forest Service is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.
Indian Forest Service was created in 1966 for protection, conservation or the forest resources. Rising poaching of animals and was one of the major reason that Indian government created Indian Forest Service in 1966. The candidates for Indian Forest Service are selected via a entrance exam. After the exam these candidates are given training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration at Mussourie. After which they receive training at the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy at Dehradun. IFS candidates are trained for: Forest & Wildlife Management Soil Conservation Surveying Weapons Scheduled Tribes Eligibility 1. You must be of Indian origin. 2. The age limit for IFS is 21 to 30 years. 3. There is 3 years relaxation for OBC. 4. SC/ST are eligible for 5 years relaxation. Educational Requirement 1. Candidates with Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Forestry can apply. Alternatively candidates with a graduation degree in the following subjects: Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science Botany Chemistry Geology Mathematics Physics Statistics Zoology 2. B.Tech graduates are also eligible to apply for Indian Forest Service. Scheme of Examination 1) Written Exam There are total of 6 papers in the written exam. Apart from General English and General Knowledge, there are 4 other papers for which you need to select 2 subjects. IFS EXAM STANDS FOR INDIAN FOREST SERVICE EXAM WHICH IS CONDUCTED BY UPSC ONCE IN A YEAR. IFS EXAM ELIGIBILITY;- *you must be passed a bachelor degree from a recognized university in the following branch;- physics chemistry math botany zoology stat or degree in agricultural and forest *age limit is 21-30 years. for obc student;- 21-33 years for sc/st student 21-35 years. *you must be Indian citizen for more information;- upsc.gov.in |

The Full Form Of IFS is Indian Forest Services Exam. This Examination is one of those examinations which are conducted every year by the Union Public Service Commission. As you have completed BDS [Bachelor Of dental Surgery] course , you are fully eligible to give the IFS Exam. The Essential Requisites of IFS Exam are : ## Age Limitations : >> The candidate must have an age in between 21-30 years. >> Relaxation in upper age is given too as per the category to which the candidates belong : a) OBC Category : 3 yrs b) SC/ST Category : 5 yrs ## Nationality : >> The candidate must be an Indian citizen. ## Educational Qualifications : >> The candidate must hold a bachelor`s degree in Agriculture/Forestry/Chemistry/Botany/Geology/Mathematics/Statistics/Zoology/Physics >> Candidates who have completed B.Tech course can also apply for the same. The UPSC conducts the IFS Exam in two phases : 1) Written Examination 2) personal Interview You need to pass both the phases in order to pass the Indian Forest Services Exam.
