is IT candidate is eligible to fill the form for GATE 2013?...please tell me

Hello dear,

Yes, you are eligible to appear for this GATE exam, if you are in final year of your graduation. Graduate engineering entrance exam can be given by final year students or passed candidates.

A student of information technology can also give this exam, you should keep in mind that for IT, its same as that of CSE, so you should be aware of the syllabus for CS. It is the same exam for both of the departments.

Simple eligibility for GATE:-

>>Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Pharmacy (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes can apply.

So, you are basically eligible for this exam, make sure that you dont have any back logs in your final year, trry to clear it as soon as possible.

Here is the eligibility criteria for GATE Exam.
-One should have completed Bachelors degree in Engineering in order to be eligible for GATE Exam.
-Even the candidates who are pursuing final year of Graduation in Engineering are also eligible for this exam.
-Candidates who have completed Masters degree with any of the stream and even pursuing candidates of Masters degree are also eligible to appear for GATE Exam.


A CAndidate with Any B-Tech Degree is eligible TO apply.

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is conducted on all India level. The test is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institute of Technology for admitting students in Masters in Technology post graduate programme.

Recently GATE score is used for JRF , PHD admission and PSU recruitment .

Only below mentioned degree are applicable for GATE Exam , otherwise not.

Master’s degree in any branch of Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications or equivalent

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture (4 years after 10+2/Post B.Sc./Post-Diploma)

If you have BE/B-TECH in IT or M.Sc in IT then only you are applicable for GATE exam.You have not mentioned your qualification degree.

Final year students are also eligible.The students who are in pre-final year of engineering course are not eligible for the Gate exam.Diploma degree are not applicable .

YES, IT Btech graduates can aply for the GATE exams.

Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.

Dear Friend,

The Acronym "GATE" Stands for Graduate Aptitude Test In Engineering.

This Exam is conducted for those candidates who have completed B.Tech/B.E. and want to go for M.Tech course from prestigious colleges like IIT , NIT , etc.

This Exam is conducted every year by the Indian Institute Of Science - Bangalore and the Seven Indian Institutes Of Technologies (IITs).

Only those candidates are eligible to appear in the GATE Exam who have the following qualifications :

* The Candidate must have completed B.Tech/B.E. in any stream from any recognized college/university.OR,

* The Candidate should have completed post graduation in any stream from any recognized university.OR,

* Candidates in final year of any of the above mentioned courses are also eligible for the same.

* There is no age limit for the GATE Exam.

* There is no bar on the number of attempts for the GATE Exam.

* There should not be any active pending backlogs.

So , if you have completed B.Tech in IT Stream , even then you can apply for the upcoming GATE Exam.
