Dear friend,
If you are hardworking and dedicated toward IES then you can clear these exam by your college studies too.
But if you want to score good rank in IES you should go for Coaching.Because in coaching you come to know many tricks and short cut which you can't learn by yourself.These short cut and tricks provided by Best faculty of coaching institute which gave selection to many students in past year.
If you want individual attention then you go for Individual coaching,otherwise if you strong enough to query question in between the class then you go for Group coaching.

sir,i am studying 3rd mech b.tech & an above average student having 76% aggregate & am interested to write ies(indian engineering services) exam in 2013 but i'm confused about how to study bcoz there r no coaching institutes in my place kakinada,ap.so how to solve dis problem sir.can i be able 2 study myself by ordering for postal course of any reputed institute or by self study ?? or any suggestion of urs?? plz help me out sir.thanq & waiting for ur answer eagerly.

sir, I have come to know that IES MADE EASY delhi is the best coaching institute for preparing IES; there are 4 branches of IES MADE EASY, one in delhi and the other three in hyderabad, noida and bhopal. Is the one in bhopal good? because it is nearer to my place... plz help me sir

The Indian Engineering Services (IES) Examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for recruitment to the IES, comprising of Group - A Services / Posts and Group - B Services / Posts in Categories I to IV.
Recruitment on the results of IES exam are done under the following categories:
Category I – Civil Engineering
Category II – Mechanical Engineering
Category III – Electrical Engineering
Category IV – Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering

IES Tips
- Try answering questions to depth, marks will not be allotted for mere superficial knowledge so don’t waste time in questions which you don’t know properly.
- Try to be legible; Deduction up to 5 per cent of the maximum marks for the written papers will be made for illegible handwriting.
- Credit will be given for orderly, effective and exact expression combined with due economy of words in the conventional papers of the examination.
- Candidates should use only International form of Indian numerals (e.g. 1,2,3,4,5,6 etc.) while answering question papers.
- Conventional papers must be answered in English. Question papers will be set in English only.
- In the Personality Test special attention will be paid to assessing the candidate’s capacity for leadership, initiative and intellectual curiosity, tact and other social qualities, mental and physical energy, powers of practical application and integrity of character.
- In objective don’t mark answers if not sure as there is negative marking of 33%

Coaching Vs Self Study For IES

The Engineering Services Exam is conducted by the UPSC every year..

A candidate can appear for this exam if :-
> The candidate is within the age limit of 21-30 years,21-33 years for OBC and 21-35 years for SC/ST..

> Candidate must have completed B.E/B.Tech in any of the following streams :-

> Electrical Engineering
> Civil Engineering
> Mechanical Engineering
> Electronics and Communications Engineering

Since the competition is very intense..lakhs of candidates from all over the country battle it out for a meager 70-100 seats..hence, my advice to you would be to go for a coaching institute..

The best option I think for you would be Made Easy which is located in Lado Sarai, South Delhi

Their faculty is really experienced and there are teachers who have got ranks in the Top-10 in this very exam..

I am not saying that you won't be able to study on your own but the precious guidance and tips which they will be giving you..you won't be able to find it anywhere else..

They will also teach you what are the common mistakes that a candidate does at this time which you should avoid to stay a step ahead of others..

This is just a personal opinion but the final decision rests with you..

For cracking it you need both coaching and self study..And then only you are able to do it..

Coaching classes guide you how to learn but self study makes you learn the things..
