GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. GATE Exam is being conducted by GATE committee which will consists of Professionals from Indian Institute of Science and 7 IIMs (Indian Institute of Management).
The candidates will be given admission for M.Tech course in various colleges all over India on the basis of performance in this exam. This exam will be conducted once in a year. In order to be eligible for this exam, -One should have completed Graduation in Engineering with any of the stream from a recognized institute. -Candidates who are pursuing final year of Graduation course in Engineering can also apply for this exam. -Candidates who are pursuing pre final year of Engineering course are not eligible to apply for this exam. -Candidates who have completed Post Graduation with Statistics / Science / Mathematics / Computer Applications are also eligible to apply for this exam. -Candidates who are pursuing final year of Post Graduation with any of the above mentioned subjects are also eligible to apply for this exam. There is no age criteria to appear for this exam. One can apply for this exam at any age if he fulfill the required academic criteria. There is no limit on the number of attempts for GATE Exam. One can take this exam as many times as he wanted. GATE score card is valid for a period of 2 years. If the candidate has appeared for GATE Exam in 2 consecutive years, he can use the GATE score card whichever is better in order to get admission for M.Tech course. Dear Friend, Graduate Aptitude Test (GATE) in Engineering is an all India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology. Gate is conducted by eight zones in India. The name of those eight zones are as follows..... 1 - Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru 2 - Indian Institute of Technology Bombay 3 - Indian Institute of Technology Delhi 4 - Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati 5 - Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur 6 - Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur 7 - Indian Institute of Technology Madras 8 - Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee Eligibility for GATE a) Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final year of such programmes. b) Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/Technology/Architecture (Post-B.Sc./Post-Diploma) and those who are in the final year of such programmes. c) Master’s degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programmes. d) Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master’s degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology. e) Candidates in the fourth or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master’s degree programme or Dual Degree programme in Engineering/Technology. f) Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by Institute of Engineers (India); AMICE by Institute of Civil Engineers (India)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible. Gate is generally an entrance exam for persuing M.Tech or M.E. But nowadays big public sector companies like BHEL, NTPC, IOCL, POWERGRID, etc etc are recruiting through Gate. |
