I am a post graduate in Kannada subject. I want to appear for NET (national eligibility test) exam sponsored by UGC. I want to know the details about the exam - date of the exam/ which time in the year exam will be held? and where it will be notified?

The minimum eligibility for the NET exam is post graduation. Currently the notifications regarding the NET exam will be published in the employment dailies or the official site etc. The upcoming NET exam is scheduled in the month of December. The starting date of online submission was on 26th September. The last date for application submission is 25th October, 2011. The NET exam for this year is going to be conducted on 24th December, 2011. You can get information regarding the exam from the official website of UGC.

eligibility criteria for NET

M.Sc or equivalent degree , with minimum 55% marks for General and OBC candidates
and 50% for SC/ST candidates, Physically and Visually Handicapped candidates and Ph.D.

A candidate can also apply for the Test under RA (Result Awaited) category, if he/she is appearing or has appeared in his/her final year (III/IV Semester where Semester system is there) of M.Sc. or equivalent degree examination . Such candidates will have to submit the attestation format (given at the reverse of the application form) duly certified by the Head of the Deptt./Institute over his/her signature and rubber stamp (with address and name) from where the candidate is appearing or has appeared in the final year M.SC or equivalent degree examination.
However, such candidates shall be admitted to the Test provisionally. They shall only be considered eligible for JRF-(NET)/LS-(NET), if they are able to produce the proof of having passed the Master’s Degree examination in the relevant or related subject with the requisite percentage of marks and within the stipulated time frame.
The Master’s degree can be either in Humanities, Social Science, Computer science, Electronic Science etc.

There is No restrictions in number of Attempts in NET Examination Candidates may apply for this examination Number Of times.

DETAILS ABOUT NET EXAM

Those candidate have completed masters degree from recognized university are eligible for NET exam.

For general and OBC candidate must be hold 55%above in masters degree. SC/ST candidate must be hold 50% above in masters degree.

Part time course are not eligible for NET exam.

For Junior research fellowship course your age must be in between 19 to 28 years.

For lectureship ,There is no upper age limit but the Minimum age is 19 years.

NET exam is conduct because of govt college lecturer and PHD entrance.

EXAM DATE DETAILS:-

The NET exam date is18-12-2011 But still UGC have not published application brochure .

The application details will be published in 26th September,2011.So you have to prepare well for NET exam.

There are one declaration is announced UGC . No negative Marking in Paper-I and Paper -II exam.

Online form will available after 20 th September.

NET stands for National Eligibility Test

1. A candidate must have completed their Post Graduate Degree with at least 55% from Recognized Universities.
   
2. There are Relaxation Available for SC/ST category.
   
3. No Age Limit for Applying NET.
   
4. A candidate must have Nationality of INDIA.

As you may know that National Eligibility Test which is conducted by the University Grants Commission is for candidates who wish to pursue College lectureship and PhD. Only candidates who have obtained post graduation degree are eligible to apply for it.


The National Eligibility Test is conducted two times in a year. First time in June and second time in December. Unfortunately the admission period for December exam is finished therefore you can only apply for NET exam in June 2013.


The notification for National Eligibility Test is released by UGC couple of months in advance of the test. It includes admission procedure as well the exam dates. This notification is published on the official website of UGC as well in leading newspapers and employment dailies. Several websites also publish the notification once it is released by the University Grants Commission.



Eligibility


1. You should be Indian national.

2. Post graduation degree in any discipline from a UGC recognized college.

3. Minimum of 55 percent marks in post graduation.

4. SC/ST candidates need 50 percent marks.

5. Final year students can also apply for NET Exam.

6. Your NET subject should be relevant to post graduation course.

7. There is no restriction on number of attempts.



Age Limit

1. The age limit for JRF is 28 years.

2. There is no age limit for College lectureship.
