Well firstly I would like to say that choose B.Tech over B.Sc any given day. You will have more job opportunities as a Engineering rather than B.Sc graduate. If you prefer to choose B.Sc then after completing it, you will have to go for a post graduation course or possible Engineering via lateral entry for secure future. Now coming to your question about difference between aerospace and aeronautical engineering. Its a very common question that confused students ask. The answer is pretty simple. Aeronautical is a branch of Aerospace. While aeronautical deals with flying objects that operate within the atmosphere of the earth like helicopters, commericals planes, fighter jets etc. Aerospace Engineering is the science about flying vehicles that not only operates within the atmosphere of the earth, but into space. Therefore if you want to make career as designer of lunar rockets, space shuttle, missiles, satellite etc then Aerospace Engineering is the way forward for you. There are more prospects in Aerospace comparing to Aeronautical. As I mentioned aeronautical is branch of Aerospace. Almost same subjects are taught in both stream. However subjects like space and satellite systems, orbital mechanics, control systems etc are not taught to Aeronautical Engineer. They are only taught in Aerospace. So if you ask me about which one to choose out of these two. I would recommend that you go for Aerospace Engineering. I believe that your second question has been answered by me at the beginning of this post. B.Tech is far better than B.Sc in terms of jobs and salary. Today there isn't much scope after B.Sc alone, which is why most students either go for post graduate or Engineering via lateral entry after completing B.Sc. Now coming to your third question regarding salary for Aeronautical Engineer. Well it all depends on the company. However still you can expect starting pay around Rs 30,000 to Rs 70,000. It would depend on the company. If you decide to work for Public Sector Undertaking, the starting pay would be on the lower side while working for company like Boeing would mean that you would be paid higher. |

In Aerospace engineering one can subjects related to space other than the subjects of aeronautical engineering. For example considerable rocket science is dealt in aerospace engg. In india an aerospace engineer may get quarter a lakh rupees as starting salry. THis depends on the type of industry and other factors.
