Maximum age criteria = 28yrs (for General category and I think it is 32 years for SC/ ST categories) How to apply:-You have to apply for UPSC (Union Public Services Commission) exam. This time UPSC pattern is changed and it is called as CSAT which is expected to come into effect from Civil Services Examination, 2011. It consits of two paper and each paper of Two hrs.. (Paper 1) (200 marks) consists of Current events. History Geography Indian Polity and governance Economic and social development and General science. (Paper II) (200 marks) Comprehension Logical reasoning and analytical ability Decision making and problem solving General mental ability Basic numeracy(Class X level) English language comprehension skills (Class X level) Based on the overall ranking and your choice of cadre, you will be provided IFS (Indian Foreign Service), IAS or IPS. The higher your rank, the choice is with you. In case you have not not got a good rank and got into IFS, IAS or IPS, you may still become a Group A or B officer in the Central Govt. |

Re: Eligibility criteria for IAS examination?
No ,a PUC commerce student is not eligible for the IAS exam as the PUC course is equivalent to 12th class. However subjects are not the main concerned for it.The more important is the graduation degree & that only can make you able to appear in it.So if you really want to become an IAS its better for you to get a graduation degree either through the regular one or through a distance learning mode. The eligibility criteria for IAS is as under-
1. A Graduation degree in any stream from a recognized university. 2. 21-30 years as on (Upper age limit relaxable for SCs/STs, OBCs and certain other categories. 3. The no: of attempts for general category are Four (Seven attemps of OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs For more details visit to- http://www.indiastudychannel.com/sites/163/Forum-4761-Civil-Services-I-A-S-Exam-Eligibility.aspx |

Re: Eligibility criteria for IAS examination?
PUC stands for a pre-university course, that is something which is equivalent to 10+2.
Now for IAS, minimum educational qualification states that you must be graduate in any field. Also, if you are in the final year of the degree course, then also you can apply. Your age must be between 21 years to 30 years of age.(upper age limit is relaxable for SC/ST,OBC candidates) So to give the IAS exam, you need to do graduate course and then you can apply. I hope it is clear to you now. For details, visit: www.upsc.gov.in |
