To take State Eligibility Test in Maths, you need to hold a masters degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognized university.
There is no age limit to apply for the exam.

The syllabus of Mathematics can be downloaded from the attachment provided below.

The examination is conducted twice a year, usually in the month of:
June
December
But this could vary, depending upon the states conducting the State Eligibility Test for Lectureship.

State Eligibility Test for Lectureship or SET is the exam conducted by each state separately. The SET is conducted for lecturer job in the state government colleges. It is similar to the National Eligibility Test (NET). While the NET exam is for job in central government colleges, SET exam is for jobs in state government colleges.

Now coming to some specific questions you have asked, the requirement to appear in SET exam for Mathematics is a post graduation degree in Mathematics. There are other requirements which I would mention below.

The SET exam is conducted two times a year. First time in June and second time in December. As far as ths syllabus is concerned, since each state conduct the SLET exam separately, the syllabus could be different. I have attached the syllabus for the Maharashtra SET for Mathematics.

The preparations for the SET exam should be done similarly to the NET exam. Even though some people believe that SET exam is easier than the National Eligibility Test, I would still recommend that you give yourself at least 6 to 8 months to prepare for the SET exam. The competition is getting tougher therefore one should not take any exam lightly.

Eligibility

~~ Nationality should be Indian

~~ Minimum educational requirement is post graduation degree in any stream from a recognised university.

~~ At least 55 percent marks in the post graduation course.

~~ In case of SC/ST, the requirement is 50 percent marks.

~~ Final year students of post graduation course may also apply for the SET exam.

~~ But please beware that you should be able to meet the percentage requirement and must be able to submit degree within 2 years of passing SET exam. Failing to do so, you would be disqualified.

~~ Like I mentioned earlier, your subject for post graduation would be the subject in SET exam.

~~ There is no upper age limit for Lectureship

~~ For JRF the age limit is 28 years.

~~ There is up to 5 years relaxation for reserve category in upper age limit for JRF.

~~ There is no limit for number of attempts.
