Yes you are eligible for UGC-NET Provided that you have got atleats 55% aggregate in your master degree,if you belongs from general or OBC category. However, there is a relaxation of upto 5% for candidates from SC/ST/PH category.
You have done master degree in business economics(M.B.E) and to the best of my knowledge it will come under 'Business studies' for NET that means you are defenitely eligible for it. Best of Luck Last edited by faiyaz; 9th April 2010 at 10:54 PM. Reason: some text missing |

I dont think you can persue M.sc (Economics). Eligibility criteria is such that candidate must have B.sc( MAthematics, Physics, Statistics, Economics or computer science) or must have BA (Economics, Applied MAthematics). So, you wont be allowed to do so.. |

Generally MBE dergee holder find there wayto Finance, Insurance, banking and other corporate sector. Besides these sectors MBE has also good oppurtunities in Academics, But generally in after being a P.hd holder in it. Means it has promissing oppurtunities in lecturer and professor post. Besides these one can also be a part of organisations like- NCERT etc. MBE has best oppurtunity in Corporate sector, but it also has promising aspects in Academics untill you must have P.hd. |

Both fields i.e. MBA and MBE has tremendous scope all over the globe but you cannot compare them as they are two entire different course . If you want to compare them in term of pay packets , than i would like to tell you that it depends completely upon the skills and talent of the concerned person . These both degree are of no use if not pursued from a good place As most of the people are running towards MBA in todays life unconcerned from where it has been pursued , i would like to tell you that if you are an average student than you must go for MBE which is opt by less people and does have good opportunities . All the best !! cheers |

Re: Eligibility for NET exam after masters degree in business economics(M.B.E)?
Well dear what type of suggestion you want you haven't mentioned. However, being an MCA Graduate going through UGC-NET you can appear for Information science. Or go through CSIR will also be good option. However, if you have gone through GATE, then it would be also good. Now, prepare well because NET is getting tougher from few years because of increasing number of aspirant and a competetion created at national level. Take coaching if required, there is nothing to hesitate in it. And what work hard. |

Re: Eligibility for NET exam after masters degree in business economics(M.B.E)?
hi friend,
You may sit in the exam because Candidates belonging to the General who have secured at least 55% marks (without grace or rounding off in Master's Degree (or equivalent) examination in Humanities (including languages) and Social Sciences, Forensic Science, Environmental Science, Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Sciences etc. are eligible to appear for this examination. However one more statement has been there in the NET exam :The Candidates should appear in the subject of their Post Graduation. However, the candidates whose Post Graduation subject is not covered in the list of subjects given at item No. 13 below, may appear in the subject related to their Post Graduation subject. So your subject of MBE is not included in the list of UGC NET subjects hence you can take exam in only those fields whch are related to management. |

Friends this to bring to your NOTICE that one is not eligible for UGC-NET after MBE. Only the students who had enrolled in M.B.E. in academic session 2000-20001 are allowed. But one can have a tremendous career in corporates after M.B.E. as its far more exhaustive than M.B.A.
