A police academy is basically an institution where police personals are trained.
Depending upon the post you qualified for and the state police you belong to, you will be sent to a particular police academy.

Candidates who qualifies the civil service examination and join the Indian Police Service, are sent to sardar vallabhbhai patel national police academy.
