IPS stands for Indian Police Service and it is the second highest post in the administrative field after IAS ( Indian Administrative Service ) that a civilian can achieve on its merit.

To be recruitment as IAS, IPS, IFS, etc. one has to clear a common entrance examination known as Civil Services examination and depending upon the overall performance in the same examination one is appointed at different posts.

Civil Services examination is organized once every year by Union Public Service Commission in three stages which includes Preliminary Test, Mains and Personal Interview respectively.

The eligibility criteria required for appearing in the same examination are as following :-

* You must have the nationality of India.

* Your age must be within 21 years to 32 years by the 1st August of that year in which you are appearing in the same examination. Also there is the provision of age relaxation for reserved category candidates as per the government norms.

* You must have either completed or must be in the final year of your graduation degree course with any subject of your choice from a recognized university.

For more details about the same examination you can log on to the official link of UPSC i.e; www.upsc.gov.in.

There is no special examination for the recruitment of IPS officer as there is common examination for the recruitment of officer. Civil services examination is conducted by the UPSC every year.

So, candidates after qualifying in all the three stages of the examination are eligible to get the recruitment as according to the overall performance in the examination. The candidates who are on the top of merit list are eligible to get the recruitment as IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS etc......

But to qualify in the examination you need to do hard along with the smart work. For more information about the examination details visit at http://www.upsc.gov.in

IPS stands for the Indian Police Services. If you clear all the three stages of Civil Services examination and you will go under training in National Police Academy.

During your first year of service on probation, you will be given post of Assistant Superintendent of Police. With experience in service, you will be promoted to next post Assistant Commissioner of Police and son on.

For joining candidate, ASP is the highest post.
