i also want to know how to attempt objective questions to get qualified marks.

there are alot of question from 1st and 2nd year. so go through them and try to build concept. and dont attempt the questions which are totally unknown to you.

The GATE paper is of 100 marks out of which 90 are from your specialization subjects & 10 is aptitude questions.

& there are one third negative marking , so i suggest you to attempt only those questions whose answer is confirmed for you, because if you attempt a question with wrong option then it will reduce your marks.

For better preparation kindly solve previous year paper of GATE.

When you have a question, just think that question as much as possible ways, related to terms in question. You got at least one solution which is related that terms.

It can be changed according to your preference
You can get options for your question so first try the elimination of choices method and try to chances of guess works since there is negative marking
So think for question in all possible ways and you will get a solution surely
Try to solve as many papers as possible ,then you will get more confidence and you can make your own tricks for exam

If not try to use the numbers or hints in the problem in different ways so that you may get one of the given choices.

In exam there are some 1mark questions which are purely knowledge based questions. Means there you dont have to solve the question , they are not tricky. There you just should know the concept. In 2marks questions, they check how you use your knowledge to solve particular question. The question based on basic concept but it is twisted. You should analyse the problem, and apply ur skills to solve it. And evrytime remember u hv -ve marking scheme. so be careful. And the whole exam jus depend on ur basic concepts. They test how well u knw the subject.

First of all let me congratulate you that you opted for GATE.
But it is very tough exam if you don't follow primary steps which are very important.

*After seeing the question paper have a pleasant look
*don't get excited when you know the answer of a question because all the options will be similar to each other.
*Since there is negative marking.....self confidence is the basic thing to get good score.
*select the answer if you know the answer correctly.....so prepare for it in such a manner that will not be confused in exam.
*Inspite of all these I suggest you to join in GATE coaching centers because they'll provide you the better information and many more tips instead of just giving coaching....

No solving procedure for 2011..jst go through the previous year papers...try to solve the aptitude questions also..that would be much better...inspite everything is same...

to attempt GATE examination you must have knowledge on basic part of your paper. you must study seriously to do good result in GATE examination.

first off all go through the whole syllabus of GATE first.

then try to cover all the topics from your text book whatever you have completed already at the time of your general study.

go through some previous year papers to make an idea about the question standard in GATE.

there are 15 marks aptitude in GATE. this part comparable easy than the technical part. try to get more marks from this part. if you are able to get more than 10 ,arks from this part then it will be very much easy for you to clear the cut off.

try to study some good books. also you may join in good coaching institution for GATE.

Study hard.Don't make bluff which are unknown to you.Attempt those question which are known to you.It is not mandatory to attempt all questions.Take care of your branch papers.

If you have a good practice in your subject then you can easily solve your questions, i mean the subjects of your branch are prepared by you regularly in a proper way, then their is no hardness for solving the problem, so first work hard in your branch subject..........

hii friend...here i can help you........firstly dont go for pure core subject based questions....first do general questions...then you can get confidence....then you can proceed for all questions...........

Solve maximum number of questions from a good question bank . that helps you to get in touch with the pattern.
Also as 33% of gate marks are negative marking also, try attempting sure shot questions only to get agood marks and hence agood percentile.
