If you want to make career in military or polica academy then you must have to graduate from any recognized university .

You are completing your B.tech in mechanical then you are apply for the post of police officer. But you have to getting training in police academy .

Age should be 21 years minimum.

You have to appear also written exam and physical test .

I would like to suggest you if you are studying in mechanical engineering then you firstly you should have to completed your degree course & make career in this same field .

But if you want to go in military then you have to follow at above requirements.

To become the military officer you have to qualify in the CDS examination where as for the Police officer you have qualify in the Civil services examination.

You become eligible to appear for both the examination after the 4th year of the B.tech. The CDS as well as CSE examination is conducted by the UPSC.

There is different eligibility to appear for both the examination as according to the age limitations. So you can start the preparation for the examination which you want to join.

No you are not eligible to become the officer being the 3rd year student . The minimum eligibility to appear for the examination conducted for the recruitment on the above post is graduation.

There are separate examination as CDS and CSE for the both the posts. But the eligibility is same for both the examination. The eligibility criteria to appear for the examination is :-
* Candidates must have passed the graduation from the recognised university.
* Candidates age must be between the 19-24 years for the CDS and 21-32 years for the CSE.

So you can decide one of them and start the preparation for the examination from today as the examination are not going to be easy to qualify. For detail information about the examination visit at the www.upsc.gov.in.

It is good that you are interested in the Officer line. For the Military Officer you have to appear in the CDS exam. This exam is conducted by the UPSC twice in a year. The eligibility criteria for appearing in this exam is to have a graduation degree course in any discipline from a good and recognised university with nice percentages. The age must be lie in between 19 years to 25 years to be completely eligible for this exam.

For the Indian Police Services you have to appear in the Civil service examination. This exam is also conducted by the UPSC every year. The eligibility criteria for appearing in this exam is to have a graduation degree course in any discipline from a good and recognised university with nice percentages. The age must be lie in between 21 years to 32 years to be completely eligible for this exam.Relaxation in age is by 3 years for the Obc students and 5 years for the Sc/St students.
