You can select either of the subjects. Bachelor degree in any subject is enough to join IPS. The test mainly comprises questions on general studies and general aptitude. Indian Polity, Indian Constitution, India’s History, etc are also asked. For the mains you will have the option to select any two subjects of your choice. You can choose the specialization based on your interest.
