No, you cannot become an IPS officer after 12th class commerce. Graduation is the required criterion to apply for IPS post. However you must start preparing for this exam as it is a highly competitive exam. You should appear for Civil services exam as part of this. If you clear preliminary exam and main exam then you can attend personal interview.

Its nice to see that you want to do something for the country. You can apply for the Indian Police Service upon completion of the graduation. You are free to complete graduation in any stream. That will not be the issue.


However before you apply for the IPS, I would ask to ensure that you meet all the required criteria. I am sure that you will meet the qualification as well the age criteria but there is another criteria which you should meet.


As you may know that IPS is a physical job. You have to maintain law and order and on occassion you will also have to take part in anti terrorism operations. Therefore it is essential that you are meeting certain physical criteria.

You can apply for the IPS examination after completing the graduation. Indian Police Service (IPS) is the one of the famous job. IPS examination is come under civil services examination which is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) once in every year. Sorry to say that you can't become a IPS Officer just after passing 12th class because for the IPS Post the minimum educational qualification is graduation so first you need to pass in the graduation degree.So first take admission in any of the graduation course and complete your graduation first and than you can apply for the exam.

And as you said you are a commerce student and it does not matter that from which filed you have passed the graduation degree or in which filed you have passed your 12th class board exam.

Qualifications Required for the IPS :

-The Candidate should be pass in the graduation degree

-The Final year candidates can also appear in the exam

-Also just need to be pass in graduation with passing %

-The Age for this exam required is 21 to 30 years

-And also their is age relaxation for the obc 3 years

-The age relaxation for the sc,st is 5 years

-The Number of attempts allowed to the obc is 7 years

-The Number of attempts allowed to the general is 4 years

After passing your 10+2/Intermediate education,you will not be eligible to appear in IPS(Indian Police Services) Exam.This exam is conducted by UPSC(Union Public service commission).

If you are asking to become IPS Direct after completing your 12th study then No you can Not eligible for it Because the Regulation of Educational Qualification state that a candidate must have the Valuable Graduation Degree in any field from Recognized Universities........

For Becoming eligible for it first of all you have to complete your Graduation course say in your case B.Com (Bachelor of Commerce) or any Other which you like to prefer then and only then you can apply for this exam.......

To become an IPS officer, first of all, you will have to appear for the civil services examination.

You are not eligible to become IPS Officer soon after the completion of your 12th class.

Because one should have completed Graduation with any of the stream in order to be eligible to become IPS Officer.

For this, you have to crack the selection procedure that would be conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) which would involve
Civil Services Aptitude Test
Civil Services Main Exam
Interview

In CSAT Exam, the questions will be on
General English
Aptitude etc.

But for main exam, you have to choose the optional subject and the main exam will be conducted on that subject only.

The required age criteria will be as follows :
21-30 years of age for the candidates of General category
21-33 years of age for the candidates of OBC category
21-35 years of age for the candidates of SC or ST category.

So, I suggest you to join Graduation first in the stream which you are interested.

Choose the optional subjects in accordance with your stream in Graduation and start preparation for Main Exam from the 2nd year of your Graduation.
