My name is KARTHIK.J . I am studying my BBM 4th semester . My height is 185cms and ma chest is 90cms and my life ambition is to become a IPS officer and my problem is, i am using spectacles due to short sight . So pls guide me as what to do to overcome this problem.

IPS exams are conducted by UPSC every year.
To become IPS officer you need to complete Graduation from a recognized university.

To become an IPS Officer One Needs to crack Civil Service Exam.
You need focused study of subjects. You should analyze the syllabus, and hard work is needed to crack this examination.


Eligibility criteria in Details:

Educational Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree of a recognized university

Age Limit for IPS exam:
General - 21 to 30 yrs
OBC - 21 to 33 yrs
SC/ST - 21 to 35 yrs
Defence Personnal - 21 to 33 yrs
Ex serviceman - 21 to 35 yrs

Number of Attempts:
Four attempts for open, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs.
If a person appears in the Preliminary Examination or even one paper is counted as an attempt.

How to apply:
•Apply online by using the website http://www.upsconline.nic.in
•Apply offline by purchasing the application form from designated post offices throughout the country.

Using spectacles is not a problem for IPS. But you must meet the visual standards specified by UPSC. Visual standards should be 6/6 for right eye. In case of left eye, the standard specified is 6/12. 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye and 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye are preferred. Yes , you are eligible for the IAS exam after BBM as the minimum educational qualification required for the IAS exam is to be a graduate in any field.

Age limitation is between 21-30 years with 5 years relaxation for the SC/St and 3 years for the OBC category.

You will first have to clear the CSAT i.e. civil services aptitude test in order to appear for the mains.

General category get 4 , OBC get 7 while SC/ST get unlimited attempts to clear the exam.

# The physical standards required to apply for IPS officer exam are
~>height should be 165 cm for men and 150 cm for women & 5 cm height relaxation for SC/ST candidates
~>81 cm cheast on expansion for men & there is no such requirement for women
~>Eye sight should be 0.6 in one eye and 0.8 in other eye for near vision & 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other eye for distant vision

HELLO KARTHIK;

Frankly speaking eye sight is big problem...because in IPS admission eye sight checking is one of the procedure.

But upto some extent that is eye number, they give relaxation but only when if you are brilliant in other steps of procedure...they become linient.

I suggest you to try ...because they need brilliant IPS ...SO THEY CAN IGNORE YOUR SITUATION ALSO....BE POSITIVE...

AND SOMEHOW...IN INDIA...REFERENCE...IS ALSO THE OTHER OPTION..YOU CAN SAVE YOURSELF

IPS stands for the Indian Police Services .

It comes under the Civil services of Indian government .UPSC that is Union Public service commission conducts the Civil services exam for the IPS,IAS,IFS .

For the examination ,you will have to satisfy some eligibility criteria that is :

>>Bachelor's degree in any stream of your choice from a recognized university .

>>Final year bachelor's degree candidates can also apply for the exam.

So you can apply for the exam while studying bachelor 's degree in business management during final year at the www.upsconline.nic.in.

You can also join some of the good institutes for preparation like :

The age limit for the exam is 21-30 years .If you belong to obc or SC/ST category you can avail age relaxation .

Similar is the case for number of attempts for general it is only four whereas for obc it is seven and for sc/st no limits.

You must be an Indian citizen.

So about the spectacles problem ,you will not be eligible if you clear the written test and interview as it is strictly mentioned you need not wear optical devices.

It is unfortunate that with short sightedness and weak eyesight, it is not possible to get selection in IPS exam, as Physical fitness are very important in IPS selection.

IPS or Indian Police Services exams are conducted by UPSC.

Physical fitness plays a very important role in the selection for IPS. Every measurement is important and there is no compromise in that.

The IPS exams are conducted in three phases--

Preliminary exam
main exam
Interview / Physical fitness

You can apply for IAS exam , if you are interested in civil services.

For IAS also, like IPS you need to be a graduate from a recognised university.

Your age should be between 21 years to 30 years of age.
