First of all, you must ensure that you have adequate qualifications to apply for the profile of IAS Officer. Degree in any subject is the required qualification. So you can apply after completing graduation. Age of the applicant must be between 21 and 30 years. Reserved category candidates can have concession in age. Selection is made through written test (prelims and mains), interview, and medical test.

You will have to first complete graduation and then apply for the Civil Services Examination. If you cleared the Civil Services Examination then you will be selected for the Indian Administrative Service.

But right now your focus should be on completing graduation. After completing graduation you should start to prepare for the Indian Administrative Service.

Please remember that Civil Services Examination is not an easy exam to crack. Therefore you should give yourself 8 to 10 months to prepare. Anything less than the mentioned duration would hamper your chances of being competitive in the entrance exam.

To prepare for the exam you can get the NCERT books for Class 12th. Apart from that you should start reading/watching news and following current events around the world. At the same time you should also start to read political magazines like the Outlook and India Today.

IAS Eligibility

1. To apply for IAS, you should be Indian citizen.

2. Minimum qualification required for IAS is graduation.

3. There is no minimum criteria for marks.

4. You should be 21 years old to apply for exam.

5. Anyone above 30 years is not eligible.

6. However OBC can apply up to 33 years.

7. SC/ST is eligible to apply till 35 years.

8. There are no physical requirements for IAS.

Selection Procedure

1. You will first appear for Preliminary Exam. Marks scored in this exam will not be added to your final tally. Its merely qualifying exam.

2. Those who will clear preliminary can appear for Main Examination. There will be 9 written tests.

3. After the Main examination, selected candidates will be called for interview.
