Re: How can I go for IPS exam while pursuing BSc IT final year
Well of course you can go for the Indian Police Service. Since you are in the final year of graduation, it is possible for you to apply for Indian Police Service. The forms are made available in November and December for the Indian Police Service.
The exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. I would recommend that you start preparing at least 6-8 months in advance, if wish to clear the Indian Police Service. The role of IPS officer is to maintain law and order and fight terrorism, drug trafickkling and provide security to the VIP guests. IPS is very physically demanding job. Therefore it is important that each candidate applying for it, meet some certain physical requirements. Just ensure that you are meeting all the criteria before applying. Otherwise you would be disqualified. Eligibility 1. You should be citizen of India. 2. A graduation degree in any discipline. 3. There is no percentage criteria. 4. The age limit to apply for IPS is 21 to 30 years. 5. Age limit is relaxed for OBC by 3 years. 6. SC/ST get 5 years relaxation in upper age limit. Physical Requirements Eye Sight 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye Height Male - 165 cm (General) and minimum of 150 cm (ST) Female - 150 cm (General) and 145 cm (ST) Chest Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm Exam Pattern 1. Preliminary Exam 2. Main Exam 3. Interview |

If you are in final year Graduation and you are expecting you result before the date mentioned in the notification then you can apply for IAS/IPS exam.
In most of the notification is the month of August which is mentioned in the notification. Hence if you expect your result before august then you can apply for IAS/IPS exam when the notifications are out. You have to satisfy age criteria also if you want to apply. The age must be between 21 to 30 years if you are general category candidate. There is age relaxation available for SC/ST, OBC, PWD and Ex Servicemen. The selection is purely based on the performance in the written exam and personal interview. For more information visit http://www.upsc.gov.in |
