Re: How can I prepare for IAS Exam being a candidate of 12th standard?
You have taken a very good decision by deciding yourself a good carer option of IAS in your 12th standard itself. If you know where you have to go, then definitely there are the ways to reach your destination.
In order to become IAS Officer, one need to go through Civil Services Examination conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) every year. The selection procedure to become IAS officer is by -Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) -Civil Services Main Examination -Interview. Here is the eligibility criteria for IAS Exam Academic Qualification : -One should have completed Graduation with any of the stream from a recognized university -Candidates who have appeared for final year of Graduation and waiting for the results can also apply for the Exam. Age criteria : -One should be in the age group of 21-30 years to be eligible for civil services exam -Relaxation in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC -Relaxation in upper age limit upto 5 years for the candidates of SC/ST So, still 3 years of time is there for you to appear for civil services examination. So, I will suggest you to choose optional subjects for IAS Exam and that too in accordance with the stream which you are going to join in your graduation. Start preparing for civil services exam right from the first year of your graduation. For updated information on civil services examination, you can visit the official website of UPSC. Here it is, http://www.upsc.gov.in/ |

Hello sidharth,
Since you are in the +2 right now, you have got enough time to prepare for the civil service exam, also known as IAS exam, IPS exam etc. Since you want to start preparation for the exam, I would suggest you to follow the syllabus of the exam. The civil service exam comprise of two written examination and an interview. The first stage of the written exam is known as the civil service aptitude test and you must qualify this stage to move on to the next milestone- the Main exam. The civil service aptitude test is based on following syllabus: Current events of national and international importance History of India and Indian national movement Indian and World Geography- physical, social, economic geography of India and the world Indian Polity and governance – constitution, political system, panchayati raj, public policy, Rights issues, etc. Economic and social development – sustainable development, poverty, inclusion, demographics, social sector initiatives etc. General issues on environmental ecology, bio-diversity and climate change General science Comprehension Interpersonal skills including communication skills Logical reasoning and analytical ability Decision making and problem solving General mental ability Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc. (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. –Class X level) English language comprehension skills (Class X level) Its always advisable to take one step at a time and therefore, without bothering much about the Main exam, you should first prepare for the first stage of the civil service exam and be confident enough to qualify it. |
