I have done M.sc in organic chemistry(organic specialization). is it mandatory to clear net or gate exam for Ph.D . if not then what is the procedure?

It is compulsory for candidates who have done master's degree in any discipline to clear National Eligibility Test or Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering to apply for PhD course. Other most important criteria is that you should have minimum of 65% marks in master's degree.

*NET is conducted by Central board of Secondary Education. Minimum percentage of marks in master's degree required to apply for NET exam is 55%. You can prepare your subject well to clear this exam and get admission in PhD course.

NET is a bit easy as compared to GATE exam. NET has advantage that you can also become lecturer in government college.
