i have completed my b.e(ece) with a cpga of 6.72....i like to get a good govt job... please suggest what to do...please help..

You can do couple of things for government jobs starting with applying for the Indian Engineering Service entrance exam. This exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission to recruit engineering graduates for various government departments.

Indian Engineering Service is quite a reputed entrance exam. Apart from that it is also considered among the toughest entrance exams in the country. To appear for this entrance exam you must meet the following criteria.


IES Eligibility

1. It is restricted to Indian citizens only.

2. Bachelor of Technology degree from recognized college.

3. There is no minimum percentage criteria.

4. As on the 1st August of examination year, you age should be at least 21 years and less than 30 years.

5. There is 3 years relaxation in upper age limit for OBC.

6. SC/ST can appear for the exam till 35 years.


Public Sector Undertaking is second option for you. Electronics and Communcation Engineers are very much in demand in PSU companies. PSU is a company controlled by government of India with minimum of 51 percent stake. Although in several companies, government owns 100 percent stake.

These companies have their areas of expertise like NTPC is in power generation, ONGC is in oil exploration etc. The process of applying for job starts with a written test which is followed by interview.

But this pattern changes from PSU to PSU. While some ask candidates to appear for written test, other companies demand the GATE score in place of written test. Therefore it is essential to appear for General Aptitude test for Engineering.


PSU Eligibility

1. B.Tech with 60 percent marks.

2. Must clear pending backlogs before applying.

3. GATE score is also important in some PSUs.

4. Age limit is 21 to 30 years with relaxation,

5. of 3 years for OBC and,

6. 5 years for SC and ST.
