Re: How to give IAS exam? I have completed 12th exam in PCM stream
I am afraid that your interest in Computers would not make any significant impact on your chances of clearing the Civil Services Examination. There is no written test conducted in either Preliminary Exam or the Main Examination which is related to the Computers.
The optional subjects that you have to select for both preliminary exam as well main exam also do not include Computers related subject. Therefore your interest in Computers would be of no significant help. Now so far you have completed 12 standard. You will have to complete graduation to apply for the Civil Services Examination. You can pick any course to complete graduation however since you have completed 12th with PCM, Engineering would be a nice option. Engineering would be good as a backup option as well. There are very few seats in the Civil Services Examination and lakhs of students applying for them. Therefore you should consider a backup option in case you fail to clear the exam. Eligibility 1. You should be national of India. 2. Any graduation degree would be sufficient to apply. 3. There is no percentage criteria. 4. The age limit is 21 to 30 years to appear for it. 5. OBC get 3 years relaxation while SC/ST gets 5 years relaxation. Exam Pattern 1. Preliminary Exam 2. Main Exam 3. Interview Now coming to your question of subjects. Frankly you can complete graduation in any stream and yet apply for IAS exam. The written tests are related to General Studies, English Language, Essay, Indian Language while other papers are based on optional subjects selected by the candidate. You have the option to select optional subjects. For Preliminary Exam you should select 1 optional subject while 2 for the main Exam. Generally students either select subjects like Geography, History for the optional subjects or something related to the course. Therefore a degree in following subjects would suit if you want optional subject related to the course. Agriculture Animal Husbandry and Veterinary science Anthropology Botany Chemistry Civil Engineering Commerce and Accountancy Economics Electrical Engineering Geography Geology History Law Management Mathematics Mechanical Engineering Medical science Philosophy Physics Political science Psychology Public Administration Sociology Statistics Zoology |
