PCS stands for Provinicial Civil Services, also called State Civil Services. State Public Service Commission conducts this exam every year of different states.

Different PCS has different number of attempt. Some allow upto their upper age limit.

For Civil Services exam:

General candidate: 06

OBC candidate: 09 attempts

SC/ST candidate: Upto upper age limit.

Preliminary exam is first stage, which you must clear to give mains exam which is next stage. Preliminary exam is eliminating round.

Documents like marksheets, income certificate, category certificate etc are required.

The number of attempts allowed for IAS, IPS examinations are :
-> General category candidates : 6 times
-> OBC candidates : 9 times
-> SC and ST candidates : no restriction on number of attempts.
And a candidate can attend any number of times for PCS exams till the candidate attains maximum age limit.
And there is no requirement to attend the exam but the educational qualification required to apply for these exams is Graduation in any stream from UGC recognised institution or college.
# And preliminary exam is a part of recruitment process of these exams. And this preliminary exam is conducted in objective type questions and it is only of qualifying nature and marks obtained in this exam are not considered for final selection of candidate.
Do you have any question? or have anything to say?
