The basic percentage of marks for UGC NET exam is 55%. This will be same for both JRF and lectureship positions. 55% marks is specified for general category candidates. Also there is relaxation in marks for other special categories. SC/ST/OBC categories should obtain 50% marks to appear for UGC NET exam. You can prepare for the subjects based on your specialization in post graduation.

Re: How much basic percentage do I need in PG for UGC NET exam?
National Eligibility Test or NET is conducted by the University Grants Commission. The purpose of the exam is college lectureship and Junior Research Fellowship. If you wish to apply of either of the two then you will have to appear for the National Eligibility Test.
The National Eligibility Test is conducted in June and December of every year. This is the national level entrance exam conducted for universities under the central government's control. For state level exam please refer to State Eligibility Test. Majority of states in India conduct State Eligibility Test. The purpose behind both these exams is to ensure good quality lecturer in government colleges. It helps in keeping educational standards high in government colleges. Ministry of Human Resources and Development started the NET exam as well Teaches Eligibility Test (TET) following research that found out low education standards in government colleges and schools. NET Eligibility 1. Only Indian nationals can appear for the exam. 2. You will have to complete post graduation. 3. Final year students are also eligible. 4. But you must have 55 percent marks in post graduation. 5. SC/ST would have to secure 50 percent marks. 6. While there is no relaxation for OBC. 7. Final year students should submit degree in 2 years. 8. Subject for exam will depend on your PG degree. 9. Age should be below 28 years for JRF. 10. Although OBC can apply up to 31 years. 11. While SC/ST can apply till 33 years for the same. 12. There is no upper age limit for lectureship. |

Re: How much basic percentage do I need in PG for UGC NET exam?
You must have a Post Graduate Degree with 55% marks from a recognized University then only you will be eligible for UGC NET.
For SC/ST/PWD there is 5% relaxation in marks and they need only 50% marks in the Post Graduate Degree. Age Limit: For Lecturership there is no upper age limit. For Junior Research Fellowship there is upper age limit for 28 years. Age relaxation of 5 years is available to reserved category candidate. UGC NET Exam Pattern: Hence if you have these all things then surely you can apply for UGC NET. For more information visit http://www.ugcnetonline.in |

Dear Friend,
The University Grants Commission conducts the National Eligibility Test twice every year. The National Eligibility Test is conducted in the months of June and December. This Test is conducted for the selection of candidates for the following posts : * Lectureship * Junior Research Fellowship The Selection Procedure of NET Exam : 1) Written Test 2) Personal Interview The qualifications Required for NET Exam are : ## Educational Qualifications : >> The candidate must have completed post graduation in any stream from any recognized university. >> Candidates need a minimum of 55% marks in post graduation. >> Candidates who are in the final year of Post Graduation can also apply. ## Nationality : >> The candidate must be an Indian. OR, >> A Subject of Nepal. OR, >> A Subject of Bhutan. ## Age Limit : >> There is no age limit for the lecture ship post. >> The age limit for the JRF is : a) For General Candidates : 20-28 yrs b) For OBC Candidates : 20-31 yrs c) For SC/ST Candidates : 20-33 yrs So , if you have secured the required percentage , you are eligible for the NET. Re: How much basic percentage do I need in PG for UGC NET exam?
Dear There,
NET stands for National Eligibility Test. The exam is conducted by UGC for the recruitment of : i) Lecturers ii) Junior Research Fellowship The standard of education is very low in India and the lecturers are also not much qualified in the means of knowledge. Due to this reason UGC conducts NET examination. Candidates who qualify the examination are eligible to apply as Lecturers and JRF. The exam is conducted in two phases: i) Written ii) Interview The educational qualification needed to apply for NET examinations are: * Candidate with any stream in the final year of Post Graduation. * Candidate passed Post Graduation in any stream from a recognized college / university. * Candidate must score at least 55% marks in PG if belongs to General or OBC category. * SC/ST candidates must score 50% marks in PG. Other eligibility criteria for NET examination: * Age limit - There is no age limit for the post of Lecturer ship where for the post of JRF the age limit is below mentioned: i) General candidates - Not more than 28 years ii) OBC candidates - Not more than 31 years iii) SC/ST candidates - Not more than 33 years * Citizenship - Indian. Now according to your question you must have 55% marks in PG if belonging to General category or OBC category and 50% marks in PG if belonging to SC/ST category. That's it. Thanks. |
