There is no need of any percentage of marks in 12th or in Graduation level to become an IAS officer. Only a pass in Graduation is sufficient along with other eligibility criteria.

To become an IAS(Indian Administrative Service) officer one has to apply, appear and crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC once every year.

The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate.

The selection is through three stages:-

-CSAT - Civil Service Aptitude Test - Preliminary Exam

-Civil Service Main Exam

-Personal Interview

Dear Friend,

There is no need of specific % of marks that you have to secure in 12th standard to become an IAS Officer.

This is because there is no relation between 12th standard marks and IAS Exam.

The Qualifications that you should have for the IAS Examination are :

* Educational Qualifications : Graduation in any discipline from any recognized college/university.

* Age Limit :

* Nationality : Indian.

* Number Of Attempts :

General category : 4

OBC Category : 7

SC/ST Category : No Limit

This is the information i have to the best of my knowledge regarding your query. Hope the information will help you to the extent you want.

My friend the marks you score in 12th standard are irrelevant when applying for the Indian Administrative Service. The only thing that will be considered is graduation degree. Even then the percentage would not be considered.

Therefore don't put additional strain on yourself of meeting a particular percentage mark in 12th board or the graduation. You simply have to complete graduation in order to become Indian Administrative Service officer.

Once you have completed graduation, feel free to apply for the Civil Service Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. Please check the criteria below and ensure you meet it.

Eligibility

1. Only citizens of India can apply.

2. A bachelor degree in any discipline from any recognized university.

3. There is no criteria for percentage in graduation.

Age Limit

General - 21 to 30 years.

OBC - 21 to 33 years.

SC/ST - 21 to 35 years.

Exam Pattern

1) Preliminary Exam

2) Main Exam

3) Interview

Attempts

1. General - 4

2. OBC - 7

3. SC/ST - unlimited

Percentage is not the criteria when you are applying for IAS examination.

You should be just passed in the Graduation from a recognised university if you want to apply for IAS examination. You age must be between 21 to 30 years if you are General Category candidate.

10+2 marks are of no meaning in IAS exams hence don't worry about your 10+2 percentage.

The selection will be based on the performance in the written examination and personal interview . Your degree and school marks will not be counted in the selection procedure.

So don't worry if you have got less marks in your Degree and 10+2 because if you perform good in Civil Services examination then you will become an IAS officer.

The IAS exam has a 3 stage procedure for selection :

-Civil Services Aptitude Test

-Civil Services Mains Exam

-Personal Interview

The merit is prepared on the basis of marks obtained in Mains and Interview. CSAT is a screening exams and their marks is not counted in final selection.

Hi Guest,

For any job if you maintain a good percentage of 65% and above throughout the academics you can have the best future.

As you are interested in Civils Examination, if you maintain a percentage of above 65% in all your 10th, 12th and Graduation it will be the added advantage for you in the selection procedure.

Hey friend

With just a qualification of completed +2 you are ineligible for writing the IAS exam

The IAS exam is conducted by UPSC and is held every year and this exam is conducted on the reason for candidate to join in for the post of IAS Officer.

You are ineligible for applying for the exam because you are not satisfying the needed education qualification for the exam.

The needed education qualification for writing the IAS exam is that the candidate must have completed a degree from a recognized university with a fair percentage and it can be from any discipline as it dosen't matter.

Apart from this the age limit which is needed for the exam is:

For General - 21 to 30 years.

For SC/ST - 21 to 35 years.

For OBC - 21 to 33 years.

The Nationality standard for the exam is that you need to have a citizenship in India

If you are satisfying them all then you can apply for the IAS exam

If you have more doubts about the exam check at the official site of UPSC at http://www.upsc.gov.in

Your 12th marks are not that much important to become an IAS officer. You need to be a graduate from a recognized university to become eligible for UPSC examination. You need to choose your subjects for IAS.
Since you are in class 8th, so its better if you take subjects in class 11th and 12th which you want to take in IAS.It will be beneficial for you. There is reservation for age and no of attempts for reserved categories.

Percentage Requirement For IAS

The selection for the Indian Administrative Services (IAS) is done through the Civil Service Exams conducted by UPSC..

A candidate can appear for the Civil Service Exam if :-

>> The candidate must have completed graduation or must be in the final year of graduation from a recognized institute..

>> Candidate must be within the age limit of 21-30 years if general, 21-33 years if OBC and 21-35 years if SC/ST..

Note :- There is no percentage requirement for appearing for Civil Service Exams..a mere pass in your 12th and graduation would be enough to make you eligible for the exams..

There are 2 rounds in the written exam :-

>> Prelims which tests you on the basis of your aptitude as well as general awareness with the help of 2 objective papers..

>> Mains shall test you on 9 subjective papers based on your graduation subjects and English..

You can also visit http://upsc.gov.in for more details on the exam..

But, personally I would advice you that you have a long way to go and you should focus on your current studies..

Starting of your graduation would be a good time to start your preparations for the Civil Services..

all the very best for your future..god bless

With Warm Regards
Nitz
