Re: How much percentage is needed to apply for NET examination
NET is short for National Eligibility Test. Those who are interested in college lectureship and PhD are required to clear this exam before they can apply. As per the guidelines of the University Grants Commission, only post graduation degree holders are eligible for the National Eligibility Test.
It is conducted twice a year. Since there is no limit on number of attempts, candidate is free to apply as many times as he/she would like. National Eligibility Test is both state and central level exam. However the state version of the exam is called State Eligibility Test (SET). Each state is free to conduct its own SET exam. This responsibility is given to the state education board. However state would have to follow the guidelines by the University Grants Commission which is why the eligibility for the both exam is the same. Eligibility 1. You should be of Indian origin. Education 1. Post graduation degree from a UGC recognized university. 2. Minimum of 55 percent marks. 3. SC/ST need only 50 percent marks. 4. Final year students may also apply. 5. But only if they are sure to meet percentage criteria and would be able to submit their degree within 2 years of clearing NET. Age Limit 1. The age limit for JRF is 28 years with relaxation for reserve category. 2. There is no age limit for College Lectureship. |
