How to prepare for CAT exam while in final year B.Com?


I am now in my final year of B.COM,after that if i can score 50% than i want to appear for CAT,So please advice how to prepare for CAT and what kind of book should be preffered?

CAT stands for Common Admission Test and this examination is Conducted by IIM's Every year and The Notification of this examination will be Published in the Month of August in the official website and the examination will be held in the Month of November/December.

To apply for this examination you have to complete your Graduate degree course in any discipline from a recognised University and scored minimum 50% Marks, Final year appearing candidates are also apply for this examination.

For CAT 2011 Examination was already completed and If you are Interested in this examination then please wait for the Notification.

CAT is a computer based test and there will be two separately timed sections in the test :

>> Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation
>> Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning.

There will be 30 questions in each section. You have to scored good percentile in both these sections only then you will be able to scored good Percentile in CAT Examination.

The examination fees of CAT is Rs 1600.

You practice hard for CAT because math questions are also come in CAT so read NCERT BOOKS of class 8,9and 10 also read cbse 8,9,and 10 books.

There are three section in exam
1. quantative analysis and data interpretation.
2.english
3. general knowledge.

now i would suggest you to do part 1 from book by Arihant.
and for part 2 you can take help from English Grammar book by Thomsan and martin, and for part 3, you should refer magazines like current affairs.

and finally do lots a excercise for better result

CAT score however big may not let you into IIMs
You need to have excelled in other components as well. CAT score is a gate way to IIM but final selection is not entirely on CAT score.

Final selection is based on
1. 10th marks
2. 12th marks
3. graduation marks
4. work ex
5. CAT Score
6. GD/WAT
7. PI
8. Extra Curriculum

Inorder to get call from various IIMs try to get the following percentile (for general)

1. IIM A, IIM B, IIM C 99.8+ percentile
2. IIM L, IIM K, IIM I 99+ percentile
3. IIM Shilong 98.5+ good academic background
4. New IIMs. 98+ percentile

i scored 67% in first year and 64% un second year !!! Plz advise me how to prepare CAT exam !!and when it is held its fee structure !! Syllabus . And am i eligible for it ?

YES, you are Eligible for the CAT 2013 Exams


Eligibilty to apply for the CAT exams is:
Graduation pass in any stream with minimum 50% marks for General and OBC candidates and minimum 45% marks for the SC/ST candidates.
Final year Graduation students can also apply



Questions will be asked from the Below Sections in CAT Exams:
Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation;
Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning

CAT preparation need atleast 8 months

You can join any coaching class for CAT
They have crash coarse program as well.
you can try this year but it would be difficult for you to crack the exam.
