Aeronautical engineering is also called as an aerospace engineering. Aeronautical or aerospace engineering also focuses in the testing, construction, development, designing, operation and maintenance of both commercial and military aircraft, spacecraft's and their components. There are 4 main divisions in the aeronautics field of aerospace industry which includes aircraft engines, missile systems, military aircraft and civilian aircraft. An aeronautical engineer develops designs and tests missiles, aircrafts, satellites and other aeronautical systems. List of Courses: - Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Bachelor of Science in Aircraft Engineering Bachelor of Engineering in Aeronautical Engineering Bachelor of Technology in Aeronautical Engineering Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace Engineering Bachelor of Technology in Aerospace Engineering Master of Science in Aircraft Engineering Master of Engineering in Aerospace Engineering Master of Technology in Aerospace Engineering Master of Engineering in Aeronautical Engineering Master of Technology in Aeronautical Engineering Doctor of Philosophy in Aeronautical Engineering Basic Eligibility UG: For admission in a bachelor’s degree, the candidate must have passed the higher secondary school certificate (10+2) examination with science subject such as biology, maths and chemistry. For IITs, It is mandatory to qualify in the Joint Entrance Examinations (J.E.E). The duration for this course is 4 years. PG: The eligibility criteria for pursuing a master’s degree are holding a bachelor's degree in (B.E/B.Tech) or any other equivalent branches of engineering. The duration for this course is 2 years. Specializations Some of its specialized fields are: - Aerospace Propulsion Structural Analysis Electronic Systems Ground Vehicle Systems Transportation Systems Aerodynamics and Fluid Dynamics Aircraft Structures and Materials Structural Design and Engineering Instrumentation And Communication Navigational Guidance and Control Systems Job Prospects Aeronautical engineers often work for large aviation companies like Airbus, Boeing and even NASA. These companies are constantly seeking trained engineers. In India aeronautical engineers are mostly employed by ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) and the Defense Ministry. One can also look for jobs available with the Civil Aviation Department, National Aeronautical Laboratory, Defense Research and Development Laboratories (DRDO) and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). Aerospace engineers are in great need in aircraft industrialized divisions, airline industries and air turbine production plants or designs. They can also seek employment in different areas such as design, development, and maintenance as well as in the managerial and teaching jobs in institutes.
