Re: Aeronautics as career?
Yes Aeronautical Engineering is really an awesome career to opt for. There are many exams for aeronautical engineering but the famous exams are
IIT JEE AIEEE ISAT IIT JEE is considered to be the toughest exam in India but if you clear that exam then you can make the world go round that too with aeronautical engineering you can fulfill your wish of become an engineer Another is AIEEE which is considered 2nd most prestigious exam in India. Its also good ISAT has less no of seats and i have heard that they offer their graduates direct entry into ISRO fee structure for IITs and NITs is no high at all. Its around 25000 which is of-course cheap as compared to others So cheers work hard for these entrance exams and be the one Remember to be the best you have to train to beat the best! Cheers |

Re: Aeronautics as career?
Aerospace engineer can design develop and test aircraft, space craft and missile and supervise their manufacture.
Aerospace engineer who work with aircrafts are called aeronautic engineers and those working specifically with spacecraft are called aerospace engineers. To qualify as an aeronautical engineer you need a BE/BTech degree in aeronautical engineering. That is possible only after completing 12th with compulsory subjects like PHYSICS and MATHS. You need to clear the Entrance Examinations like IIT JEE AIEEE KCET KIITEE VITEE BITSAT Employment Indian airforce Commercial airlines Hindustan aeronautics limited Airport authory of india NAL NASA AIRCRAFT MANUFACTURER Job prospects include openings in R&D in the m/o civil aviation or in defense research laboratories i.e. defense service’s DROD for missile development or space research labs like Indian space research organization and csir laboratories |

Aeronautical Engineering: Scope, jobs, prospects, Skills required Aug 13, 2009 Scope and Prospects Aeronautical engineering is one of the most popular career option for those students who want to make their career into airplanes, space shuttles, jumbo jets and other similar exciting stuff. Aeronautical engineering deals with all the technical details and mechanisms behind all flying bodies. Nowadays, Aeronautical engineers are needed in all sorts of areas such as Aircraft manufacturing units, space stations and many more important places. Aeronautical engineering degree helps you equip knowledge on the complex design and development of these high flying machines. It deals with the aerodynamic and mechanical aspects of these machines and systems. This field also deals with navigation systems, radars and other communication networks. What would you do as an Aeronautical Engineer? Aeronautical engineers work in aircraft manufacturing units, space stations etc.., and their work majorly involves- design and development of aircraft parts, testing new aerodynamic and aviation systems, quality management and improvement maintenance. Aeronautical engineers utilize their technical know-how in designing high end vehicles for automobile industry, locomotives (super fast trains / sky buses) and swift water transportations (speed boats, hover-crafts etc.,). Aeronautical engineers are also involved in huge super mega structures (sky-scrapers) that have to withstand changing air pressure at high altitudes. Career prospects With every day new air routes being connected the airline industry needs qualified technical engineers to develop and maintain their growing fleet of aircrafts. With the country on the top radar of satellite technology, aviation engineers are in demand to meet this state of the art technological field with increase usage of navigation systems etc., Opportunities are open for students in top international aviation companies – government and private airlines, and organizations involved in military and space programs like IAF, ISRO and NASA etc., Aeronautical engineering students can find jobs in – Aviation industry (private and public airlines) Satellite and Space research organizations (ISRO, NASA etc.,) Defence (Military – Air Force) Automobile and fast-moving locomotive industries Skillset required This field of engineering is technically demanding and challenging. Along with strong mathematical base, student should also have a creative and analytical mind. Students are also required to be physically fit, esp. who opt to work for defence. All the basic skills required for a successful engineer is discussed in the main article (see here). Topics covered in your curriculum? Aeronautical engineering curriculum covers the following major topics:- Mathematics Fluids and solids Thermodynamics Avionics Aerodynamics Control systems Eligibility, Entrance Exams and Institutes The minimum requirement to become an aeronautical engineer is a bachelor’s degree or a diploma in aeronautical engineering. Optionally, students can take up any of the following engineering field and choose aeronautics as their specialization for their masters / higher studies. Mechanical engineering (highly recommended) Electronics engineering Electrical engineering Alternatively students can also opt for AMAESI / AeSI (The Associate Membership examination of the Aeronautical Society of India). This four year course, recognized by the Government of India, is equivalent to Bachelor’s Engineering Degree (B.E.). For more information go to www.aesi.com Advise Since this field emphasizes a lot on creativity, a sound academic background coupled with a passion to learn and pursue this highly technical field of engineering, will result in you achieving great success in your career. So aeronautical engineering will certainly be a promising career option as btech branch if you have that flair for Flying, Flights and Flying machines. |

Re: Aeronautics as career?
Aeronautical Engineering : Eligibility & Course Areas
To be an aeronautical engineer one should have a graduate degree (B.E/B.Tech.) or at least a diploma in Aeronautics. The degree and postgraduate degree courses are offered by the engineering colleges and Institutes of Technology (IITs), and the diploma courses are available at polytechnics. The basic eligibility criteria for a BE / B.Tech is 10+2 or equivalent examination, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and must have a fairly high percentage of marks in the aggregate. One must also pass the qualifying exam JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) conducted by the IIT's. Selection : Selection to the graduate courses ( BE / B.Tech ) is based on merit i.e the marks secured in the final exams of 10+2 and through entrance exams. Entrance to the IIT's is through 'JEE' (Joint Entrance Exam) and for other institutions through their own separate entrance exams and other state level and national level exams. Most of the institutes conducting engineering courses in Aeronautics consider JEE score as the qualifying grade. There is also the Associate Membership Examination of the Institute of Engineers (AMIE), which enables working people in the private and public sector, or diploma holders to acquire a Bachelor's engineering degree through distance education by studying the syllabus and appearing for the Associate membership examination of the Institute of Engineers (AMIE) conducted by ASI ('The Aeronautical Society of India'). This degree is equivalent to aeronautical engineering degree. Those with a degree in electronics, mathematics or physics can also find opportunities in this area. Some Institutes offer postgraduate (M Tech) and Doctoral (Ph D) programmes in Aeronautics. The Madras Institute of Technology offers a three year Graduate Programme in Aeronautical Engineering for B Sc students, subject to their having passed Maths and Physics at the graduation stage. The Indian Institute of Science (IIS), Bangalore has M Tech and Ph D programmes in aeronautics. Duration : The duration is four years, ending with a degree recognised by the ministry of education, government of India. The diploma courses are of 2-3 years duration. Personal Skills : Aeronautical engineers should have an eye for detail and be good at problem-solving. They need mathematical precision and design skills, computer skills, and the ability to communicate well. They also need good planning ability and a knack for working under pressure. An aeronautical engineer needs to be physically fit an may need to often work at great speed especially in checking and maintenance of aircrafts during turnarounds. They must have a normal colour vision. |
