How to start my GATE preparation without coaching? Best books for it?

I continue my B.Tech(3rd) in civil engineering Engineering so how shall start my gate preparation without any coaching and which books best for me.

The following are the Tips for GATE preparation:

-->>Start preparation as early as possible i mean 3rd year 1st sem of B.Tech is the good time to start preparation.

-->>At first concentrate only on important subjects by looking the marks weightage for each subject.

-->>Newly aptitude section is included in GATE 15 marks.So practice aptitude well.

-->>Give importance to engineering mathematics.It will done fetch 8 to 10 marks.

-->>Try to solve previous papers by setting time of 3 hours yourself.This will increase confidence and time management skills in you.

-->>while reading just understand the concepts and prepare your own notes and then practice bits related to the concepts from books.

-->>At last one thing GATE is a golden opportunity for engineering students to get in to research field.

GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering.

Upcoming GATE 2014 Exam will be organized by IIT Kharagpur.

You can start your preparation for GATE Exam in home as well.

Just start preparing for GATE Exam through the reference books.
