Yes, of course you can apply.

The IGNOU is offering M.Sc Maths(with its applications in Computer Science) under the name MACS.

The Eligibility Criteria is:

1) Graduation from a recognised University/Institution with a Major, or Honours in Mathematics with at least fifty percent marks in aggregrate.

2) If the seats remain vacant from then Graduation with BA./BSc degree with Mathematics as one of the three main subjects with equal weightage, securing at least 50 percent marks in aggregate and 55 percent in
Mathematics will be considered.

Note:Physics, Chemistry or any other honours or major students will be not admitted even if they have studied Mathematics as one of the subjects.

Mode for Admission:

There is no entrance test for it and admission is based on merit.

How to apply:

You download the common prospectus from the IGNOU website from

and fill the form given in this and submit the same with relevant documents in IGNOU.

As a first step , you should learn how to write English properly, then you may go foe Msc Maths

Msc is a master degree course. Msc stand for the master in science. And MSc in mathematics means that MSc course in the mathematics specialization.


To be eligible for this course it is must to have a bachelor degree in the science stream with mathematics as a major subject.


As you are telling that you have completed your BSc course with Physics and mathematics subject so definitely you can do it.

if you complete b.sc with physics and honors still you can apply for M.Sc in Maths in IGNOU.

you are eligible to apply. purchase application form and duly fill it and submit the same in the university.

you also need to pay university fees which IGNOU tells you and after that they will tell when classes will start.

You need to attend classes as per their schedule.

Exams also, they will intimate. you need to go and write.
