Actually, GATE exam is for admission to IITs and NITs for your mtech and ME courses, A good score is needed if you want these colleges, nevertheless there are also other ways of entering through NITs by Non GATE category.

Also you can go by applying through various private colleges which take their own admission, some of them are very good, and they stood among top engineering colleges with great infrastructure and all.

You can go for:

VIT University

BITs Pilani

BITs Ranchi

SRM University

Indraprastha University

IIIT Bangalore

IIIT Allahabad

Also there are some NITs which offers Nongate students:-

They have their own entrance test, there will be written and interview, consists of both objective and MCQ types, you have to study your specialised subject for this.

NIT Durgapur

NIT Tripura

MVNIT
