CDSE is the exam which is conducted by UPSC every year to select students various
forces ::

1.ARMY
2.AIR FORCE
3.NAVY
4.OTA.

>>This exam happens twice a year and there is no limit in number of attempts a students can take this exam.If you are eligible then you can take this exam again and again

Eligibility ::

I.M.A.

The CDS or Combined Defence Services Exam is conducted twice every year by the UPSC in the months of February and September..

In order to appear for the CDS exam..a candidate must fulfill the following minimum eligibility criterion :-

1) You should be a graduate degree from a recognized University or a final year graduation student..

2) For admission to different Academies you must be in the following age limits :-

For Naval Academy : 19-22 years
For Air Force Academy : 19-23 years

The exam pattern for the written exam will be as follows :-

General Knowledge - 100 marks

The next CDS exam shall be conducted on 12th February but the last date for applying for that exam has already gone by which was 28th November,2011

You can still apply for the CDS 2 Exam which is going to be conducted on 16th September,2012

the forms for the exam shall be released on 2nd June,2012 and the last date for form submission is 2nd July,2012..

UPSC CDS Exam 2012 Eligibility
a.Nationality : A candidate must either be :
1.A Citizen of India, or
2.A subject of Bhutan, or
3.A subject of Nepal, or
4.A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January, 1963 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
5.A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

Certificate of eligibility will, however, not be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal.

A candidate in whose case a certificate of CDS Exam eligibility is necessary, may be admitted to the examination provisionally subject to the necessary certificate being given to him by the Govt. before declaration of result by UPSC.


b.CDS 2 2012 Exam Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status :

1.For IMA-Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July, 1988 and not later than 1st July, 1994 only are eligible.
2.For Indian Naval Academy-Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July, 1991 ( 2nd July, 1989 in case of NCC Naval Wing ‘C’ Certificate holders ) and not later than 1st July, 1994 only are eligible.
3.For Air Force Academy-Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July, 1990 and not later than 1st July, 1994 only are eligible.
4.For Officers’ Training Academy – ( SSC Course for Men ) : Male candidates ( married or unmarried ) born not earlier than 2nd July, 1988 and not later than 1st July, 1994 only are eligible.
5.For Officers Training Academy – ( SSC Women Non-Technical Course ) Unmarried Women, issueless widows who have not remarried and issue less divorcees ( in possession of divorce documents ) who have not remarried are eligible. They should have been born not earlier than 2nd July, 1988 and not later than 1st July, 1994.
The date of birth accepted by the Union Public Service Commission is that entered in the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving certificate or in a certificate recognised by an Indian University as equivalent to Matriculation or in an extract from a register of matriculates maintained by a university which extract must be certified by the proper authority of the university or in the Higher Secondary or an equivalent examination certificate. These certificates are required to be submitted only after the declaration of the result of the written part of the CDS examination. No other document relating to age like horoscopes, affidavits, birth extracts from municipal corporation, service records and the like will be accepted.

The expression Matriculation / Higher Secondary Examination Certificate in this part of the instruction includes the alternative certificates mentioned above.

Sometimes the Matriculation / Higher Secondary Examination certificate does not show the date of birth, or only shows the age by completed years or completed years and months. In such cases a candidate must send in addition to the attested / certified copy of Matriculation / Higher Secondary Examination certificate an attested / certified copy of a certificate from the Headmaster / Principal of the Institution from where he passed the Matriculation / Higher Secondary Examination showing the date of his birth or exact age as recorded in the Admission register of the institution.

Note 1 :

Candidates should note that only the date of birth as recorded in the Matriculation / Higher Secondary Examination certificate or an equivalent certificate on the date of submission of applications will be accepted by the Commission and no subsequent request for its change will be considered or granted.

Note 2 :

Candidates should also note that once a date of birth has been claimed by them and entered in the records of the Union Public Service Commission for the purpose of admission to an examination, no change will be allowed subsequently or at a subsequent examination on any ground whatsoever.

Note 3 :

The candidates should exercise due care while entering their date of birth in the respective column of the application form for the Combined Defence Service examination. If on verification at any subsequent stage any variation is found in their date of birth from the one entered in their Matriculation or equivalent examination certificate, disciplinary action will be taken against them by the Union Public Service Commission under the rules.


c.Educational Qualifications for CDS II 2012 Exam :
• For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy : Degree of a recognised University or equivalent.
•For Indian Naval Academy : Degree in Engineering.
•For Air Force Academy : Degree of a recognised University ( with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level ) or Bachelor of Engineering.

Graduates with first choice as Army / Navy / Air Force are to submit proof of graduation provisional certificates on the date of commencement of the SSB Interview at the SSB.

Candidates who are studying in the final year Degree course and have yet to pass the final year degree examination can also apply but they will be required to submit proof of passing the degree examination to reach the army HQ / Rtg. CDSE Entry, West Block III, R.K. Puram, New Delhi – 110 066. In case of IMA / SSC first choice candidates and Naval HQ “DMPR”, ( OI & R Section ) Room No. 204, ‘C’ Wing, Sena Bhawan, New Delhi – 110 011 in case of Navy first choice candidates and PO3 (A) / Air Headquarters, ‘J’ Block, Room No. 17, Opp. Vayu Bhawan, Motilal Nehru Marg, New Delhi – 110 011 in case of Air Force first choice candidates by the following dates failing which their candidature will stand cancelled :
i.For admission to IMA, Indian Naval Academy and Air Force Academy on or before ____.
ii.For admission to Officer’s Training Academy, Chennai on or before ____.

Candidates possessing professional and technical qualifications which are recognised by government as equivalent to professional and technical degrees would also be eligible for admission to the CDS II examination.

In exceptional cases the Union Public Service Commission may treat a candidate, who does not possess any of the qualifications prescribed in this rule as educationally qualified provided that he / she possesses qualifications, the standard of which in the opinion of the Commission, justifies his / her admission to the CDS examination.

Note I :

Candidates, who have yet to pass their degree examination will be eligible only if they are studying in the final year of degree examination. Those candidates who have yet to qualify in the final year Degree Examination and are allowed to appear in the UPSC Examination should note that this is only a special concession given to them. They are required to submit proof of passing the Degree examination by the prescribed date and no request for extending this date will be entertained on the grounds of late conduct of basic qualifying University Examination, delay in declaration of results or any other ground whatsoever.

Note II :

Candidates who are debarred by the ministry of defence from holding any type of Union Public Service Commission in the Defence Services shall not be eligible for admision to the Combined Defence Services Examination II and if admitted, their candidature will be cancelled.

Note III :

In the event of Air Force candidates being suspended from Flying training for failure to learn flying, they would be absorbed in the Navigation / Administration / Logistic Branch of the IAF. This will be subject to availability of vacancies and fulfilling the laid down qualitative requirements ( including 60% in graduation ).

CDS entrance exam has been conducted two times in year in February and september every year

CDA entrance exam eligibility:

1. you should be passed the bachelor degree with atleast 55% marks from any recognized university.
2. age must be between the 19 to 26 years.
age relaxation as per gov. rules

3. Indian citizen.

CDS Exam is Combined Defence Services Examination which is conducted by UPSC every year for recruitment of cadets in Indian Army ,Indian Air Force and Indian Navy.

The merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks in the paper and SSB .Then medical examination will take place. Those who are fit and have good marks will be selected for their respective academies.

CDS stands for Combined Defence Service, the entrance exam for which is conducted by UPSC twice every year as CDS-I and CDS-II to join Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officer's Training Academy of CDS.

The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 19 to 25 years with good Physical and Mental health.

The different wing of CDS has different age limit such as:-

Hai,

CDS stands for Combined Defence Service.


CDS exam is conducted by the UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) twice in a year.

1. CDS-I.

2. CDS-II.


CDS has three wings:-

Indian military academy,

Indian naval academy,

Indian airforce academy,

Officer training academy.


Eligibility criteria:-

You must be complete graduation or any equivalent degree from a recognised university of india.

You must be an indian origin.

You must be physically fit.

Both male and female candidates are eligible.

Percentage of marks are not important to apply this exam.

Final year graduation persuing candidates are also eligible.


Age criteria:-

The age limits for Naval academy are 19 to 22 years,

The age limits for Airforce academy are 19 to 23 years,

The age limits for Military academy are 19 to 24 years,

The age limits for Officer training academy are 19 to 25 years.

No upper age relaxation for any reservation candidates.


Selection process:-

Written exam,

Personal interview,

Medical test.


Syllabus for written exam:-

General english,

General knowledge,

Elementary mathematics.

Each one carries 100 marks, total 300 marks.

If you want to pursue a career in defense then you need to sit for the CDS Exam which is conducted by UPSC. Full form of CDSE is Combined Defense Service Examination and you can give this exam for two times a year. Following are the academies you can enter on giving this exam:-

Examination Pattern:-



The examination pattern of all the academies except the officer's training academy is same. For IMA, NA and AFA academies the examination pattern includes three papers which needs to be completed in six hours. 300 marks have been allotted for the exam and 100 marks each have been allotted for each paper.

For the officer's training academy there will be two papers to finish in four hours' time. 200 marks have been allotted for the paper and you need to stress on the following sections for the exam: English and General Knowledge. 100 marks each have been allotted for the paper.
