To take National Eligibility Test (NET) or State Lectureship Eligibility Test (SLET) in Mathematics, one must have completed Masters Degree program in Mathematical Sciences and must have qualified the examination with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate. The required percentage of marks is relaxed upto 5% for candidates belonging to reserved category.

In order to check out the syllabus of Mathematics Sciences for National Eligibility Test (NET), refer to the link provided below:

Mathematical Sciences (Syllabus)

The basic difference between the National Eligibility Test (NET) and State Lectureship Eligibility Test (SLET) is that qualifying National Eligibility Test will enable you to apply for the position of Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Universities and Colleges located anywhere in India whereas, qualifying State Lectureship Eligibility Test enables a candidate to apply for the same position but only in the Universities and Colleges located within the jurisdiction of that particular state from where the test is been taken.

Since both the tests are conducted by and under the regulation of University Grant Commission, refer to its official website for complete detail.

NET exam is conducted by UGC for selecting candidates to lectureship or Project Fellow. SET is conducted by the concerned state authority for selecting eligible candidates to lectureship in higher secondary schools. Master degree with a minimum of 55% marks is the basic qualification required. SC/ST candidates can have 5% relaxation in the required percentage of marks.
