Hello friend,
As you know that the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission conducts number of examinations, the eligibility criteria varies as per the posts and the departments.
However, for most of the examinations , including group I exam, the minimum eligibility is a bachelors degree within the age limit of 21-30 years.
Apart from group I exam, some of the other examination requires the candidate to hold masters degree in a particular field, depending upon the job profile.

(B) Educational Qualifications for TNPSC Exam

Candidates should possess the following or its equivalent qualification on the date of viz. 21-08-2007:

(i) Must possess a degree in Arts, Science or Commerce of any University recognized by the University Grants Commission for the purpose of its grant or B.O.L of Annamalai University, B.B.A of Madurai Kamaraj University, B. Litt of Madras University, B.B.M. or B. Litt of Bharathiar University. AND

(ii) A degree in Law of a University recognized by the University Grants Commission for the purpose of its grant. Provided, that other things being equal, preference will be given to the employees of Religious Institutions (other than Government Servants) who have put in not less than 5 years of Service

Provided, that other things being equal, preference shall be given to persons who hold a Diploma in Epigraphy and Archaeology awarded by the Institute of Epigraphy in Tamil Nadu.
