Dear friend,
The qualifying marks for GATE exam goes on changing from year to year.but if you want to select in Gate exam then score 40 to 45% marks in Gate exam you will get select.

GATE, like CAT and unlike GRE, GMAT or Board examinations, is a zero sum game. You need to beat someone else to rise up the ranks. So you must try to core as much as you can.


The eligibility criteria for GATE is as follows:

• Bachelor's degree holders Engineering/ Technology/Architecture/Pharmacy (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.
  
  
  
• Master degree holders in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes
  
  
  
• Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master's degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology or in the third or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master's degree programme and Dual Degree programme in Engineering/Technology.
  
  
  
• Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed Section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.

For GATE exam you have to complete graduation from any recognized colleges in INDIA.
Or those students who are in final year of BE/B.TECH.But for GATE exam you get to prepare .

I got total 37.08 percent in cat2011. Then i am qualifying or not?

MINIMUM qualification for gate varies from 25 for cse to 42 in architecture and planning for general categories. for other categories it is lower. if you not satisfying this criteria then you are not gate qualified.

3.GATE scores are valid for 1 year only. You may reappear in the GATE exam if you are not satisfied with the earlier score and the new score will be used for admission purposes.

the cutt off will be changed during year to year, we can say that it is approximately above 25 for general and above 15 for sc/st students.
