Required age criteria to apply for IAS Entrance Exam?

As like all other entrance exams you need to satisfy the eligibility criteria needed for the IAS entrance exam.

The entrance exam which you need to satisfy are the following headings:

-> Nationality

-> Age Limit

-> Education Qualification

Nationality:

~ Candidate should be a citizen of India as regarding the Nationality standard

Age Limit:

~ The age limit needed for the exam is that the candidate must have 21-30 years for General Category candidates.

~ The candidate of SC/ST should have 21-35 years

~ The OBC Candidates should have 21-33 years.

~ The candidate who is a Ex-service men will get 5 years exception from the prescribed limits as it is applicable.

Education Qualification:

~ The education qualification for the exam is that the candidate must have completed a degree from a recognized university with a fair percentage.

~ Even final year candidates is eligible for the IAS Exam.

Actually there is no specific exam as IAS entrance examination.

To become an IAS(Indian Administrative Service) officer one has to apply, appear and crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC once every year.

To be eligible for Civil Service exam one should be minimum 21 years of age and maximum 30 years of age for general category candidate.

There is upper age relaxation for SC/ST candidate up to 5 years and for OBC candidate up to 3 years.

Apart from this one must be an Indian National having either appear for the graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream, of education from a recognised University.

The selection is through three phases:-

-CSAT - Civil Service Aptitude Test - Preliminary Exam

-CIVIL SERVICE MAIN EXAM

-PERSONAL INTERVIEW

(i) Age limits :



21-30 years as on 1.7.2012. (Upper [SIZE=1]age limit[/SIZE] relaxable for SCs/STs, OBCs and certain other categories as [SIZE=1]specified[/SIZE] in Para 3(ii) of Notice).
