The Sub-Inspectors in the police department are selected on the basis of Entrance Examination conducted by Police Recruitment Board of the respective states or Public Service Commission of the same.
As far as academic qualification is concerned, candidates holding a bachelors degree are only considered eligible for the examination. The age limit, however, varies from state to state but is mostly between 20-25 years, which is relaxed upto certain level for candidates belonging to reserved category of the respective state.
In order to get more information, refer to the official website of the regulatory body conducting the selection procedure in your state police.

PSI (POLICE SUB-INSPECTOR) height limit is not specified by MPSC ( Maharashtra police service commission),,

However,, the candidate has to undergo a physical test for the post of PSI (200 marks).
Details regarding eligibility , exam pattern is to be noted down from here.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR PSI

AGE SHOULD NOT BE MORE THAN 28 AND NOT LESS THAN 18 (Relaxation of 3-5 years for obc/sc/st candidates).

SHOULD BE A GRADUATE IN ANY DISCIPLE

EXAM PATTERN

Candidates have to appear for prelims and main examinations and successful candidates are then called for an interview.

PRELIMS EXAMS:- 1 paper of 200 marks called the General Studies Paper.

The format is multiple-choice type, meaning that you have to select one of 4 answer options.

The topics include a wide variety of subjects covering history, geography, sports, current affairs, etc.

FOR MAIN EXAMS:-1. Objective Type (0.25 negative marking is given for each wrong answer)
2. English (70 marks); Marathi (130 marks)
3. Intelligence Test (70 marks); General Studies (130 marks)

Total Marks = 400 Marks

Eligibility for SI exam:
You should have Indian citizenship.

Age Limit-
You age should be between 20 to 25 years on the day of examination.

Age Relaxation-
There is an age relaxation of -
3 years for OBC reserved category candidates.
5 years for SC/ST reserved category candidates.
5 years for candidates who have achieved distinction in sports.

Education Qualification-
You should have a bachelors degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
There is no percentage cut-off as such.
