Should I prepare for IES or should I do job?
I have finished my engineering in 2008 specialized in mechanical. After that i have worked in a construction company in qatar as piping engineer for last 1.5 years. Next i'm thinking of writing IES exam or doing any higher degree. But i also have interest in going for good job. Now i'm in a confusion of what to do next? whether to work or to study?

Re: Should I prepare for IES or should I do job?
If any one says to you do job or do i.e.s he would be clearly fooling you....How can anyone really tell you what you need to do and why do u want to listen to opinion of others....The answer to your question really lies within yourself....Just try to imagine how do you look at your career few years down the line and decide if that dream matches with i.e.s or current job and its growth further....Then you can take decision....Please,Please don't believe in anyone's advise to take any side at this point of time.....As anyone will say what they feel is right but they might not be knowing the actual scenario and they will not face any consequence out of your decision.....Believe in yourself and your decision and stick to it....It will definitely reap you rewards.....

dear friend
Dont confuse, If you are interested to prepare for IES, then you can definately go for it, but i will suggest you, in IES there are very few seats and competion is very high, so i will suggest you just choose according to your interest. But if you will get good job, then please go for job. but overall its totally your own decision........... |

Re: Should I prepare for IES or should I do job?
dear friend, as you have work experience so you should choose job at this time.
But you can also choose IES as this exam is conducted by UPSC, & it is also very prestigious level to join IES. kindly choose as perr your interest, if you want to study then IES is better than job. otherwise you can choose to do job. good luck. |

Re: Should I prepare for IES or should I do job?
Hello friend,
It is a tough competition to crack ies. Hardbound preparation is needed. Each of the above mentioned test papers is of duration of 3 hours. The students are given the freedom to sit for either one or two papers provided the timing of the two does not clash so it is subject to the restrictions imposed by the schedule of the test. Papers except those of biotechnology and computer applications are all objective-cum-subjective type. The objective questions carry a weightage of 30% whereas the subjective questions carry a weightage of 70%, out of the total marks assigned in all of these six test papers. good luck! |

Re: Should I prepare for IES or should I do job?
Dear friend,
Please don't create confusions in mind, these just leave you with nothing.. At first you should decide what way you should go further whether to do higher studies in your stream or to do jobs. Only then you can take the next step. IES is meant for joining Indian Engineering Services that is a gateway towards central Govt jobs in the engineering sector.. So if you target to have secure Govt job you must compete in this exam.. Otherwise you can look for other jobs in the market or make your career more strong by doing higher studies like doing M.Tech.. Best of luck! |

Re: Should I prepare for IES or should I do job?
HI!
Whether to do a job or prepare for IES exam, is an issue which you have to resolve yourself. Others can only give their opinion but the final decision has to be taken by you. You cannot sail on two boats simultaneously. Each of the two options require your full time. So, you have to select one of them at the cost of other. Becoming an IES require hard work, determination, right strategy & dedication. You have to leave your present job if you are serious about preparing for IES because IES preparation will require your full time. And if you are interested in doing some good job then forget about preparing for IES exam. Focus on your career & the way to achieve your career goals. |

dear friend
this is not good for a person who is working and left study 1 or 2 year ago please don't mind my states is not to hurt your feeling towards this. And also this is not easy as well as for the person who is in touch with study. coz this is very difficult to clear ies or anyother upsc exam. The hard work you will done to get pass with ies you need to hard work with your current job and you will get success in your life definitely. |

do not be confused, according to my opinion you should not left your job.You should continue with your job and simultaneously you should take preparation for IES. In this way you will be not dishearted after getting your initial unsuccess and you will be continue your preparation. In this way, one day you will get success. Best of luck |

Its depend on you, what do you want, if you want to do a higher salary package job then go for IES, if not then go for job, i think you cant find such type package now, so for IES, not job, you can do job after IES, but not do IES after job
