CA is somewhat related to maintaining accounts of individuals and companies whereas IAS is one of the top civil service which is related to general public and their welfare anyways this is not an issue at all , your decision to write civil services is really appreciable And optional subject selection comes after your prelims stage as per new pattern of the examination The strategy to opt subjects should be in this way you should give the max importance to your interest because you have to spend a lot of time in studying your selected subjects if you don't have interest in what you have selected then it will become mere waste in ..you will be suffered with boredom so don't listen anyone's suggestion go through the syllabus and topics of each and every optional then select the subject in which you are most attracted and have a 80% interested topics in the syllabus of it this is how you have to select the optionals so, if you are interested in any optional select it even if every one says it as the toughest one .. Take the guidance of successful and unsuccessful candidates then make a decision on it Regards ~AdityA~ |

UPSC provides a long list of optionals to choose from.
But you have good background in mathematics and management, these two will work good for you, but since you are going to prepare for civil service , you should have some knowlede about politics and administration also, i mean one optional you should opt from these: Political Science Public Admin Gepgraphy One of these will good to you, but rest depends on your interest also, opt for them only if you found content of these interesting. |
