The number of attempts for IES are

for general student is 4.......

and relaxable for reserved categories.....

And for OBC it is 7 times.

And for SC/ST it is 9 times.

General category students are permitted for four attempts.

The number of attempts a student of General category can made for IES is 4 times.So work hard & try to clear only in the 3 attempts as if you are not well prepared to do so then dont make a try as all the chances are very precious for you.

It is conducted for
civil
mechanical
electrical
electronics and telecommunication.

There is no provision for the total number of permissible attempts for GEN category candidates for IES examination.

The maximum number of attempts permissible to different categories:
General category (04); P.H. candidates belonging to general category (07); OBC (07); SC/ST/ (no limit)

there are unlimited attempt for ies............. about 4 attempt in ies is not true , it is valid for ies. so you should try yourself at all time .
don't care about no. of chances..

Total number of permissible attempts for candidates of general category is 4, i.e a candidate belonging to general category can appear in IES exam for only 4 times.

For OBC a candidate can appear for 7 times

For SC/ST there's no such limit.

No.of attempts for Engineering Service Examination :-

For General category : Four Attempts

For OBC category : Seven Attempts

For SC/ST category : No limit

IES i.e Engineering Service Examination was conducted by Union Public Service Commission every year.

You must have a Engineering degree from a recognized University.

IES - Indian Engineering college

The exam is conducted by UPSC (union public service commision) is held once every year.

i have applied for IES twice, but was not able to attend the examination. will that be counted as attempt?

* The Acronym "IES" stands for Indian Engineering services.

* IES exam is conducted every year by UPSC.

If you want to appear in IES exam , then you must follow the following mentioned criteria :

a) You must have completed your B.E./B.Tech from the following streams :

* Electronics & Electrical Engineering

* Electronics & Communication Engineering

* Mechanical Engineering

* Civil Engineering.

b) Your age must be in between 21-30 years.
