Re: What can I do after passing BSc to get into software engineering?
If you want to go in the field of software then you have several options. Firstly if you have done B.Sc in Computer Science, then you can opt for post graduation course. Other options include B.Tech in Computer Science or the MCA.
Lets talk about each option one by one. The most obvious choice would be to go for B.Tech in Computer Science. You can apply for this course after completing B.Sc. However to apply you can not appear for ISEET, AIEEE or the IIT-JEE entrance exam. The admission would be given through lateral entry scheme. This scheme is offered by a lot of colleges that reserve up to 20 percent seats for the lateral entry candidates. You would need at least 60 percent marks in B.Sc to get direct admission for Engineering course. With lateral entry you will get admission in the second year of B.Tech course. There is also a possibility of getting direct admission with 50 percent marks. In other case you would have to appear for entrance exam. It could be LEET entrance exam or exam which is conducted separately by the universities. The second option would be to opt for Master in Computer Applications (MCA). There is huge demand for MCA degree holders in IT industry of India. For MCA you need to have Mathematics as one of the subjects at 10+2 and you also need at least 50-60 percent marks in the graduation course. The admsision for MCA is given through various entrance exams conducted throughout India. After completing any of these courses you can apply for job in MNC. However your performance throughout the academic career would be vital to get the job. For example company like HCL requires candidate to have scored 65 percent marks throughout the academic career. Some of the companies where you can apply are: Infosys Microsoft IBM Intel HP Dell Wipro Patni Sify Satyam Tech Mahindra HCL TCS |
