Becoming a commerical pilot is a very good option in India. Despite the fact that most airlines in India are going through tough times, it does not mean that you should abandon the thought of working for it. Aviation sector in India is growing at as much speed as 20 to 25 percent per year.

Do not judge the sector with what's happening in Air India and one should not abondon the dream of becoming pilot because of what Air India is going through. The crisis of Air India has more to do with poor management rather then anything else. Aviation is a great field and commerical pilots make good amount of money regardless of what the economic situation we face or our airline sector is not doing a great job.

Eligibility

The basic eligiblity is 10+2 with at least 50 percent marks in PCM.

Your age for Commercial Pilot Licence should be between 18 to 30 years.

Physical Requirements:

There are some physical requirements that you should also meet to become Commercial pilot.

Height:

Your height should be at least 5 feet tall.

Eyesight:

6/6 is the requirement. However it is always good to visit on of the medical centers and clear all the required medical tests before you apply to become a commercial pilot.

There are other requirements as well:

You should not have fear of heights.

There should be good coordination between mind and limbs

You should be able to handle the pressure situation without any emotional breakdown.

HOW TO BEGIN

Student’s Pilot Licence

The first step is Student's Pilot License, for which the basic qualification requirement is 10th pass. This licence can be obtained at the age of 16 years. All you need to do is appear in a basic mathematics test that includes knowledge of several aspects of the aircrafts. You need to score at least 75 marks out of 100 to pass this test. There are total of 23 flying schools in India that offer Student's Pilot Licence.

Private Pilot Licence

This is the second stage of becoming the commercial pilot. Here you are not only required to pass a written exam but practical tests as well. You will have 40 hours flying experience with an instructer and 20 hours of solo flying. This is followed by theory paper tests that are conducted by DGCA. Once passed you will possess Private Pilot Licence but that does not makes you commercial pilot.

Commercial Pilot Licence

The third and final stage is Commerical Pilot Licence, something that you were aiming from the beginning. Here you will have to get 250 hours of flying experience before you can become a commercial pilot.

You will also have to pass several tests related to Air Regulations, Aviation Meteorology, Air Navigation etc. You will also have to pass the medical fitness test conducted by DGCA.

Once you get the Commercial Pilot Licence you can work as trainee co-pilot at any airline like Kingfisher, Air India etc for 6 to 8 months following which you will become co-pilot.

The entire process will cost you around Rs 15 to 20 Lakh however the good salary offered to commercial pilots would make up for what you have spend so far.

SALARY

Commercial pilots get very satisfactory salary. The salary for fresh pilots starts at around Rs 1.5 lakh per month and for experienced pilots who are given the task to fly at international routes the salary is around Rs 5-6 Lakh per month.

Hello,
it would have better, if you would have mentioned what is your current academical qualification status. But then if you are from the higher secondary standard then immediately go for any of the engineering examinations like EAMCET or AIEEE or JEE or IIT.
Now in that when you clear with a good rank say within 5000-6000, then you will be able to join aeronautics engineering. Now, you will have to study the course well and get into the essence of it to go for the pilot course. So do this first and then make your next move.

To become a pilot, you need to join Air flying schools after completion of 10+2, they should pass the 10+2 exam with physic, chemistry, math. Minimum marks should be 50%.

Here is some of the flying schools for training in flying from where SPL, PPL, and CPL training can be completed:

Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi, Uttar Pradesh
Flying Training Institute, Behala, Calcutta
Government Aviation Training Institute, Civil aerodrome, Bhubaneswar
Karnal Aviation Club, Kunjpura Road, Karnal, Haryana
Government Flying Club, Aerodrome, Lucknow
School of Aviation Science and Technology, Delhi Flying Club Ltd, New Delhi
State Civil Aviation, UP Govt Flying Training Center Kanpur and Varanasi
Rajasthan State Flying School, Sanganer Airport, Jaipur
Govt Flying Training School Jakkur Aerodrome, Bangalore
Andra Pradesh Flying Club Hydrabad Airport, Hydrabad
Assam Flying Club, Guwahati Airport, Guwahati
Bihar Flying Institute, Civil Aerodrome, Patna, Bihar (More details are here)

you need to clear the entrance test exam of the flying schools in India, you also need to clear the physical fitness (Which is tough one). Only totally fit person can get opportunity to get admission in flying schools.

The cost of education is very high, it is around Rs 15- 20 lakh. Many banks can give loan up to 50%.

After completion of education, you get the licence of pilot. Airlines companies hires the successful candidates as trainee.

The salary of trainee is less. After successful completion of training periods they are posted as pilot.

Even after becoming commercial pilot, they need regular medical check up, any problem in health can cause cancellation of the licence of the pilot.

So, over all, job as a pilot is too challenging as well as very high rewarding .

Hey friend,

You need to write the entrance exam to become a Pilot and there are various entrance exams which are conducted in India for candidates to join in Indian Air Force.

There are various entrance exams which are conducted in India for candidates to join in Indian Air Force and it depends on the qualification which you possess. But as far now you have not mentioned your qualification for me to say for what exam you are eligible or not in order to join in Indian Air Force as a Pilot.

But i could just imply you the minimum qualification which is basically needed to joining in Indian Air force and it is that:

-> The candidate appearing for the exam must be a citizen of India

-> Unmarried male candidate is only eligible

-> The age limit needed for applying for the exam is 16 1/2-19 years

-> The education qualification needed for the exam is that the candidate must have completed a +2 and that to with Phyiscs and Mathematics as subjects in order to apply for the exam

-> Apart from all these you need to be a physically fit while appering for the exam

If you are going to satisfy all these criteria means then you can apply for the exam which is called as the NDA exam which offers you to join in IAF with a minimum qualification
