As per a provision introduced in December 1979, reservation to ex-servicemen is available at 10% of vacancies in Group C posts and 20% in Group D posts in the central civil services. A 10% reservation is also extended to ex-Army personnel in vacancies for posts up to the level of assistant commandant in all paramilitary forces to be filled by direct recruitment.
