Re: What exams I need to give to become Astronaut, Pilot or Physicist?
Dear Smiley miley
First of all be focused, what actually you want to become Astronaut or Pilot or Physicist. Untill you know what actually you want to become then how would you reach your goal. However, let me explain briefly. Astronaut or Physicist First of all For becoming astronaut check weather you have that qualities or not. Then you have to acquire anyone of the following degree fromm a good institute like IIT or IISC or IIST (most suitable). P.hd (Astro physics). P.hd (Geophysics). P.hd (Metaphysics) I mean to say any branch of physics which leads to space science, these are few examples. You can persue these degrees from IIT's or IISc,after acquiring these degrees from there you can appear for entrance conducted by NASA at international level for recruiting Astronauts etc.You can also work with our country's ISRO various entrance are cionducted by ISRO for recruiting Scientists and engineers for carrying Space reasearch or various jobs. M.tech/P.hd (Aerospace engineering) M.tech.P.hd (Aeronautical engineering) Better to persue these degrees from IIST.IIST conducts Admission to its specialied courses which leads in space tecnhnology. For entering into IIST you have to crack ISAT or IITJEE after that you will be provided Admission into B>tech if you have good performance in B.tech then you would also offered M.tech or P.hd. all study there is free of cost, after aquiring degree from there yopu will be absorb as an Scientist of ISRO.Besides these you will also get oppurtunity to join NASA,the best place for astronauts in the World. They pay $1,00,000 to there scientists or astronauts. Six Indian Students were involved in LHC experiment at CERN,they from NIT,Durgapur and were M.tech student. PILOT For becomeing Pilot first you have to aquire CPL (Commercial pilot licance) from government, which is offered only when you have 150 hours of flying experiance.Nothing to worry all these will be duty of Institute you to provide you from where you are taking training for CPL. Eligibility criteria:- class 12 (PCM) passed with atleast 60 % aggregate.and must not be less then 17 years of age. The best flying school in India is Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Udan Academy (IGRUA).Selection is through An entrance (WOMBAT) which is followed by an Interview. But becoming Pilot is very expensive course fees is 24,60,000 lacs. Best of Luck |

Re: What exams I need to give to become Astronaut, Pilot or Physicist?
Dear friend
I also would like to suggest you to decide first that if you are interested in flying high, going to space or you want to own a plane. All are different things. But none focus on your ultimate goal as they are just subject of fantasy. Astronaut I would like to tell truth that for this there is very less scope in india as India is not in a situation to have frequent space mission like NASA. Still if you want to be the one then you can go for studies inAerospace Engineering from IITs and IIST(Indian Institue for Space Science and Technology). Astrophysics is also a good path for becoming an astronaut. The best college for this is Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Koramangala, Bangalore. I used the word best because if one is willing to be an astronaut then he/she is supposed to do the best always. After then masters degree from USA would be a better choice for growing up fast. Thank You |

Dear its very typical for you to become an Astronaut, because you are a Aircraft MAintanance Engineer which is nothing but a Professional Diploma Degree of 3 years. It is also niether a Bachelor Degree nor further study can be carried out with it. Only one way your +2 aggregate will help you to do so. If you have Good percentage in +2 then it would be very helpful, because best process is as same as it has been discussed by Me in Above post. Regards ~Faiyaz~ |

Admissions close shortly. Hurry! LordsUniversal.edu.in/OppMaladStn Many of us dreamed of becoming a NASA astronaut when we were young. Some of us never got over that dream. When John Glenn rode the shuttle for NASA in 1998 at the age of 77, that flight breathed new hope into many would-be astronauts. So, how do you become an astronaut? Let's discover the NASA employment path, together. Difficulty: Hard Time Required: Varies, But Several Years Here's How: Begin your preparation as early as possible. Learn the basics in elementary school, especially math and science. Read everything you can get your hands on about astronauts, space, and whatever field you want to work in. Learn how to work effectively in a team environment. Also, don't forget the world around you. NASA does not exist in a vacuum, and you shouldn't either. Astronauts are team players. Since a college degree is a necessity, it is imperative you do well in high school first. Study hard, make good grades, especially on the SAT or ACT. Make a good decision on the course of study you wish to pursue, whether it be engineering, biological or physical science, or mathematics. NASA's "minimum degree requirement" for an astronaut is a bachelor's from an accredited institution, so work hard in your chosen classes. Your grades should allow you to enroll in a good Master of Science program. After college, you'll need 3 years of related increasingly responsible professional experience in your field. You should start preparing for this by choosing wisely when it comes to internships and coop positions in college. Communication plays a very vital role, not only verbally, but written as well. In addition, the Space industry is now a global enterprise. It's a good idea to be bilingual as well. Once you've got your degree and some work experience, it's time to apply for those astronauts positions. Fill out a Standard Form 171 (government employment application) and send it to Astronaut Selection Office, NASA Johnson Space Center, Houston, TX 77058. The astronaut application will be reviewed and ranked by various criteria, including: height, experience and expertise. NASA receives an average of 4,015 pllications to fill around 20 slots every 2 years. Next, another screening process, and about 118 from the original 4,015 will be invited to Johnson Space Center for a week of interviews, medical exams and orientation. The ASB interviews each astronaut candidate and assigns them a rating based on: experience and potential, motivation, ability to function as a team member, communicative abilities, and adaptability. You can fail due to interpersonal skills. If you are interested in a pilot/commander position, instead of mission specialist, you will also be required to log in at least 1,000 hours of flight time in command of a jet aircraft. During training all crew members train aboard a T-38 jet, in which the controls are identical to the Space Shuttle and therefore, can be used as a flight simulator either on the ground or in actual flight. Many applicants do not meet medical standards while others withdraw after learning all that the job entails. After collecting significant information, the Astronaut Selection Board will choose its final candidates and pass that recommendation on the NASA Administrator who will make the final pick for employment. Once selected, astronaut candidates begin a rigorous training program. Expect many long days, even after your training ends. Being an astronaut can be hard on family life. Tips: An interesting fact is that out of 195 former and present astronauts, 123 have taken part in Scouting. It seems that scouting is a great place to learn many of the skills required to be an astronaut. Don't approach your college career concerned with how it will appear on a resume. Make sure you have a real interest in your course of study. As soon as you arrive on campus, go to the co-operative and recruitment offices to explore the possibilities of an internship or work/study position to gain vital experience necessary to be marketable. If you wait till your senior year, or even after graduation, you've missed a golden opportunity. Don't rest on your laurels. Most astronauts to date have continued with career and/or education to the post-graduate levels and were able to substitute education for all or part of their work experience requirement. Still, the application process is a long one, and you still need to eat in the meantime. The Astronaut Selection Board (ASB) is looking for people who have done very well in a technical field. Make sure you have sterling recommendations, especially from undergraduate and graduate school professors that can attest to your problem solving abilities, communicability with others and your ability to work well in a team. Nice to see, that even being a class 10th student you are very clear towards your career Goal. As I have also discussed above the quoted statement that Quote:
Besides these you will also get oppurtunity to join NASA,the best place for astronauts in the World. They pay $1,00,000 to there scientists or astronauts. But you will have to be American Citizen, after joining there. So the first step you have to take is, score very well in your 10th exams, because for ISAT only candidate having 70% in both class 10th and 12th are eligible to apply. Then after performing well in 10th join +2 with MAths, Physics and Chemistry as main subjects, there in 12th also you have sore 70% in Physics, Chemistry and MAthematics also. Prepare well for the entrnce and crack it. I will also advice you to oncego though its official site (http://www.iist.ac.in) of IIST, to gather some more information Best of Luck Last edited by faiyaz; 1st November 2010 at 09:05 PM. |

To astrology or aeronuatics both are totally different. You first decide to which stream you want to join. And than go in that direction as it will be helpful to you for your career building process.
First if you want to join astrology you need to carry out higher studies in astrological science and as far as becoming a pilot you need to have driving license which are of different types for which you need get yourself registerd |

So, you are confused what to opt after BCA. Generally students opt for MCA after BCA and I also support this. Thats because MCA after BCA are valued much then an MCA without BCA. Today MCA garduate find tough competetion through there IT and CS Engineering graduates, but BCA + MCA doesn't have to suffer much in this regard as they become prior choice for recruiters. Whereas in MBA, specialisation in IT, System and MArketing will work better for you. But I will not advice you to opt for MBA, when you have already MCA as a wiser choice. thats because B.sc (IT ot CS) graduate are tremendously opting for MBA in above mentioned specialisations, as result recruiter are find easy and cheap Manager in this respect. So, better opt for MCA. It will act as in oppurtunity for you at the time of recruitment. Yes of course girls are allowed for Commercial Pilot Licence. Infact 2 out of every 10 CPL holders are Females. And India is also witnesing increase in number of Females in opting for Pilot as a career. But the fact has also to be admitted that this is male dominated sector. Steps for becoming a Pilot. NOTE: Special care has to be taken by Female candidates regarding Medical Fitness, because even being a good Pilot number of Female aspirants lost there charm because of lack of fitness.Student Pilot License (SPL): It is an exam conducted by most of flying clubs. It cobers theoretical papers on subjects like- Air Regulations, Air Navigation etc. (Pilot Aptitude Test). Eligibility: Candidate must be at least 16 years of age and must have passed 10th. A medical certificate of fitness, security clearance and a bank guarantee if Rs. 10,000/- are required. Selection: Candidates taking SPL test have to appear in an Oral examination on a fixed day every month and go through Medical test. Air force Central Medical Established (AFCME), New Delhi and Institute of Aviation Medicine (IAM), Banglore are the Final Authorities for Medical Fitness (As per Ministry of Civil Aviation). After medical clearance the student get the SPL . Apart from Medical test student also have to clear Pilot Aptitude test. Private Pilot License (PPL): After acquiring SPL students will proceed towards PPL for the intial flying training. A Teacher/Instructor will be there to teach you the Practical aspects of flying a Aircraft. Eligibility: 10+2 and Meidcal fitness certificate from AFCME or IAM. Selection (Theory Exam): Total 60 hrs. of flying is needed , of which 20 hrs. minimum should be SOLO and 5 hrs. cross the country. A Theory exam will be conducted before awading the PPL. Subjects will be same as discussed above, but will be of high standard and different syllabus. Commercial Pilot License (CPL): A student can get his/her CPL after completing flying training of about 129 hours. to complete 250 hours of flying. Eligibility: 12th pass with at least 60% aggregate and must also have studied Mathematics and Physics, means science students. Candidate must also have PPL with at least flying experience of 3 years. Age should be 18-30 years and a Medical Clearance must be obtained from AFCME or IAM. Selection (Written Exam): A test in subjects Air Navigation, Air Meteorology, Air regulation, Technical and Planing. These exams are conducted 6 times in a year. At least of flying experience of 250 hours of which (150 hours of SOLO, 25 hours of Cross Country, 10 hours of Instrument flying and 5 hours of night flying) is also required . After a CPL one can build up more flying hours, Login 750 hours of flying time, clear the other requisite papers and acquire a Senior Commercial Pilot License. PPL (Avionics) holders generally specialize in Helichopter flying, and they get paid in hour basis. However salary is lower then Aircraft flyers. SPL, is nothing but 1st step towards career in Aviation as a Pilot. So, weather you are a Engineer or scientist procedure is same for all. Regards ~Faiyaz~ |
